Good point. Jacks should not get Wally Pipped here.

I'm sure that this incident hasn't gone unnoticed in coahes meetings in Brookings this week and I trust that our team will be warned to keep their heads and not fall into any such trap, either this week or next.

We have already had some undesirable penalties in recent weeks. So I hope the Jacks keep hold their temper. I trust that they will.

Riding a player aggessively out of bounds does not get a suspension (it could and should have drawn a flag). Throwing a punch does. I agree after watching the game twice on FSN that UNI seemed to be the aggressor in most instances and they were for most part penalized for it.

If you watch the Gobison feed, he throws a punch as well. It didn't connect and nearly hit our sideline reporter. At least that is what he said since he was standing two feet away from them.

I would just as soon he play.

At least for the Bison fans they how have an excuse for this year.

We'll be without a starting QB (most likely) and starting a feshman there but....."we would've won if not for the suspension....."

                Just posted on www.bisonsports.net:

I'll tell you this entire situation has me in a very angry mood. The league, NDSU fans the entire situation is out of control.

Ok the league takes the best back in the FCS out on a BS call, we still have McNorton, the same guy that was cheated out of a TD by the same league officials. Let McNorton lead the way.

Its just beyond the pale now and Im fightin' mad. I hope The HERD is feeling the same way.

This is the last meaningful game of the year.

                  Wow.

As far as attendance goes, if they are anticipating 15,000 and we had 18,000 for the last NDSU game, that means we are missing 3,000 fair weather fans for either team. That's actually not that bad for opening pheasant season.

I'd rather have baby steps than a peak and huge valley like up north is feeling...

                      Re: North Dakota State

Pretty surprised by the suspension. Haven't gone back and looked at replays, but from what I remember as I watched it was that it was not much of a fight or even a punch. However, if they were going to suspend Paschall, the UNI player should be gone also. That was much more than just riding someone to long out of bounds.

Gotta tell you that this makes me less comfortable about the game. The last thing we need is for the Bison to get extra motivation.

                        Re: North Dakota State

I was in listening range of WDAY(covers NDSU sports) and last night they had a program called Bison Feedback, a call in show hosted by Scott Miller the radio Voice. Scott had both AD Gene Taylor and Craig Bohl on to talk about the suspension. The AD got an email on Sunday about a suspension and he was told that the MVC Commissioner just happen to watch this game on TV and he saw the punch incident. At that point felt he needed to do something. At the Commission office they reviewed the footage and made and came to the conclusion a suspenion was in order according to conference policy. So the conference office has a process of reviewing tape and video. Meantime NDSU had an opportunity to appeal the suspension. The biggest reason that only PP got the suspension is that they had no video of the UNI guy throwing a punch or doing anything that could be considered fighting. The Commish allowed the opportunity for NDSU to produce their video, but apparently could not produce compeling video that would vindicate Paschall nor indict the UNI guy. I think the MVC was fair in its evaluation even though the UNI guy got off the hook, because no one saw what he did or did not do.

One point that Bohl made was that often in these incidents where only one individual is punished there is no action taken to the other person who often has commited some action that negativitly provokes the incident. He sighted the Oregon-Boise State incident, where now it appears the Boise State guy had done something to provoking the sucker punch. The Bosie State guy got off the hook but maybe he did something to provoke it. This is what Bohl sees as a problem and certain individuals will continue doing bad stuff so long as they are not caught. Maybe he has a point. It always takes two to tango. But judical proceeding are not justice if based on hearsay.

Interesting conversation, but I came away with a better understanding of what process the conference officals go through prior to making a suspension ruling. They do look at all the evidence available before making a judgement.

Unbelieveably one caller was asking Scott Miller, because he knew Craig Bohl could not comment, on the MVC Officiating and how bad it was. The caller sited the two games with SDSU as having bad officating calls. Very laughable but enjoyable. Scott did say that overall the officiating is not bad. Certain calls irked him, but what could he say.

This was a very enjoyable hour of listening. NDSU has some very knowledge able fans and some funny ones who manage to get on the radio. Some were commenting on various phases of play particularily tackling, and Coach Bohl agreed and thanked for their observations. Bohl came across with finesse during this hour despite having a horrible year.

Well, I did watch the NDSU game on TV over the weekend, but didn't see the fight. That said, I'm not sad the Bison will be without PP, though I do hate when somebody takes a screw job. I think some SDSU fans, though, are assuming we will win when they make comments like, "Just another excuse for the Bison when they lose." The Dakota Marker is the only thing they have to play for. This is their season. It's similar to when they were undefeated and we won two years ago. Be careful jumping to conclusions. The football gods are listening, and NDSU is still a dangerous team. Go Jacks!

You usually seem like a fairly knowledgeable poster on here so I was a little surprised to see your comment. I wouldn't start couting your chickens before they hatch. You haven't won yet. NDSU was also "supposed" to win in '07 and we all know how that turned out. I was really looking forward to seeing our O-line and Paschall against your defense this year, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. It will STILL be a dog-fight. Should be a fun one to watch. I love the outdoor, game experience under the lights at CAS. If the last two years are any indicator, it will be a great game. Best of luck. May the best team on Saturday win.

Actually, we were playing for a conference championship in that game too. The Marker was an added bonus.

I watched the game on replay as well. I did see the incident and thought at the time that if this was the NFL or NBA a punch like that would get you a suspension and a fine. Apparently it also gets you a suspension in the MV football conference as well. Say what you want but it certainly benefits the Jacks and seriously hurts the Bison. The Bison will have a quality replacement and will continue to run the ball behind an excellent offensive line.

As a second plus for the Jacks is that Ryan Crawford is a possibility to be available? Maybe SDSU is just adding that info for the Bison's benefit? Regardless it sounds as if Ryan is doing well and the enjury is not as serious as first thought. Plus, it appears that Mr. Crawford is willing to do the work to get himself ready.
