I support this post. Sacrifice the students to make a difference. Bring those cowbells. I will be in Row 4 on the 45 yard line for MO. ST. and I might raise a little hell with a tiny little cow bell.

Forgive me, BHM, but I must disagree on both accounts.

Granted Berry threw two picks and struggled at times, but he also looked very good at times. He was 19-for-33 with three or four drops thrown in. So he should've completed 70 percent of his passes while getting sacked 10 times. He certainly wasn't perfect, but I don't think we can really blame Berry.

As for the defense, it really wasn't that bad. Yes, they allowed 419 yards, including the one big play. But twice they held Poly to field goals inside the 20. Four times Poly started in SDSU territory and scored three touchdowns.

We lost the turnover battle and special teams killed us. Those two things decided the game.

You make good points but to absolve the defense of their surrender of 400 plus yards is not valid. Turnovers hurt (2 picks by Berry who you said shouldn't be blamed but if you mean sacks I can go half way with you because he took half of those) and special teams did as well (I concede the screw up with the punt no doubt) but we have to hold some accountable. No doubt Cal-Poly should be who we hold accountable for outstanding offensive play and also a solid defensive scheme. Still the Jacks and Berry need to play better. At this point we are beating a dead horse. Defense was soft, offense was stagnant and bland so lets just turn it around and give Indiana State an ass whooping like they have never had.

Ten sacks. It was a mix of no time for the QB and holding on too long.

Just not a very good showing for the Jacks. Would have liked to see more fans in the stands.
CP did have two pass interference calls towards the end that is in the 4th and maybe 5 or 6 minutes to go. SDSU got yardage on both calls. The problem was it was late in the game and helped but not enough help. CP was having a good night, and seemed to be pretty much penalty free, but in reviewing the video, I am sure you would find a few missed calls.

I dont understand the Cowbell thing myself other than it was an agreement with the MVC. Then we go to Cedar falls and learn that UNI can have piped music and rattle key chains, so its hardly a level field. Add to that the McNeese fans huddled in the Northeast corner of the east stands all dug out their cowbells and rang them like crazy after they won the Hobo game. I guess it would have been a mute point to kick them out after the game was over.

I suppose the Staduim Director marches to the drum of the AD and other Admin people who have a voice in CAS matters. I support the admin in keeping the staduim and area within in terms of adequate crowd control and the consumption of alchohl beverages on state property. The Admin needs to be firm, but maybe they also need to be very careful in how they treat each incident.

This is the virtual world and in this virtual world, friendship has nothing to do with it. By the way, I have an apology to make. I read some internet sites where that STUPID noisemaker rule is a real (sic) NCAA rule. I still say we should shove it where the stadium lights don't shine. WHO is our "representative" to the rules commitee? Do we as a school agree with it? How do we vote , or do we lead a protest against it? I only read one post (in my vast research) where somebody liked it. It was a SEC school and, ironically, it was about cowbells. If we don't like the rules, why aren't we getting on our delegate to the rules committee and tell them what we want? I read one post where a school was penalized because their BAND played during warm-ups. Seriously!!! So now the sign you read as you walk into the stadium should read, "No Cowbells, un-natural noisemakers, rally towells, bands, flags, or fun allowed at this event. Just sit there and be quiet."

Tommy Kramer was a stud....hellllooooooo? How big do you think his jewelry case for his Super Bowl rings is? I just meant that Berry acted nervous and tentative all night. Not to say that a line that allows that number of sacks doesn't share the blame, but he didn't get his passes off fast enough when he had receivers open.

Very funny you posted grades. I was going to do the same thing. I would give the QB play a D/D- and the offensive line an F/F/F (because there's nothing lower). A couple of other things:

1 - Either quit scheduling teams that play this offensive scheme or get some athletic guys who can handle it. We're a smash mouth kind of defense, and this is a bad match week after week.

2 - That being said, we are NEVER prepared for it. That's poor coaching. It's like we're surprised at what they do.

3 - The defense, while it has some great players, gives up a ton of yards game after game. I'm not accustomed to it and don't want to become so.

4 - Ryan had (another) rough game. However, the O line was just horrible...beat up or not. Ryan, though, continues to make crucial turnovers and either isn't allowed to or can't/won't change plays when the defense dictates he should. Also, he seems to lack a feel in the pocket of when pressure is closing in on him. On the rare occasions he has time, that leads to his holding the ball too long.

4B - Horrible, horrible play-calling. When the rush is coming like that to not even have the option of a hot read or short route...to continue to send all of the receivers deep almost exclusively is just stupid. No other word.

5 - I know the TE needs to stay in to help block, but we never even look at him as a threat.

QB: D+. Two picks on throws that should not have been made. Very bad presence in the pocket. A few good throws, especially when moving.

RB: I. Yes incomplete...see coaching grade below.

WR: B+. JaRon once again very good. Two TDs on not the greatest of throws. Fox dropped two early that hurt, but had a couple of nice catches later.

OL: D+. Couldn't handle more than what was thrown at them.

D-front 7: C-. Had a few good plays, but it seemed like even the littlest of runs got 3 yards. Gotta wrap up, yes you Jimmy on the 81 yarder.

Secondary: C+. Didn't pick up the outside when they ran that way. Ok against the receivers even though Barden was a decoy for pretty much the whole game.

Special teams: D. Got an onside kick...that's it. Blocked punt. Possibly the longest punt in school history called back for holding and the next punt was returned 20 yards. That was over 60 yards in field position. Block in the back on a nice return by Gant. Reifenrath should have his scholarship pulled.

Coaching: D-. I don't even know why it's that high. Rushed for 300 plus yards last year and refused to establish the run at all. Poor play calling the whole game. Piss poor clock management at the end of the third quarter with the wind and letting the clock run out and then punting into the wind. No adjustments at halftime. The team just looked flat out of the chute playing a top five team coming off a bye, unexcusable.

I am surprised there are not more teams that run this type of offense. I'm sure there are more out there, but I only know of Georgia Tech and Navy that use it.
If the last two games have shown us anything it is that we need more speed on defense.

Last night's game looked like we had just gotten done losing in 3 OTs to McNeese St. All elements of our team looked flat. Special teams had the worse game of the season, and I have basically all but lost faith in our FG kicker.

People need to back off on Berry. I was hearing some obscenities being yelled from our own student section towards him last night and it really pissed me off. Pathetic. If you want to bash our own players then go sit on the visiting teams sideline, or go home. Apparently I'm getting old, because some of them young drunk idiots are starting to get to me.

He had some questionable throws, but look at our O-line. They had their butts handed to them ALL night. Of course Berry looked off, he was throwing off his back foot all night, he had zero room to step into anything because of CP's bull rush off the line. I realize our O-line is hurting, but they've gotta step up and become that dominant force like last year or we may have a long rest of the season.

To win this game, we have to stop making dumb penalties, no turnovers, and our offense has to at least match that of CPs. CP's offense is absolutely loaded, and I would expect our D to give up 30 to a team like that. But I thought our D could have played better, and had our offense been hitting on all cylinders we potentially win. All in all, we need to put these past two games behind us and move forward. We are a better team than showed up last night.

I guess I will throw my two cents in.

To win a game against admittedly more athletic teams we have got to create turnovers like crazy. Swat the ball, jump routes, whatever. Even if we don't get them, it may make them tentative and shy.

Also, tackling a 5 foot nothing 100 nothing pound running back is completely different than tackling a big back. Those little bastards do not go down if you try and throw them to the ground. Batten did it on a sack and it happened with the scat backs all night long. You have to wrap up and squash them to the ground or they will just keep running.

Granted we have more problems then that, but since I tend to focus on the defense those are my thoughts. If the O isn't get it done with there opportunities get them the damn ball back so they have more opportunities or score on defense.

I agree, about picking on Berry or any of our own SDSU players. These guys work very hard to get their alleged free education. I dont think anyone with a bone of loyality would agree that the Cal Poly game was not a game we can be too proud of, but it does not give us the right to shout obsenities. We need to support the team. I too got angry with Berry, but it sure did not change matters for this young guy, who has a son and a wife and is trying to qualify for med school besides playing football. Ryan is more of a man than I ever thought of being, and I drawing an SS check. Another school north of us is not very happy with their QB either. I would hope our students and fans would not become this rude.

Danny really thought the QB was down on that sack. He was getting up pumping his fist and then realized the QB had run for a couple more yards. That was just unbelievable luck the QB's body didn't touch the ground (and he was smart enough to realize he wasn't down yet and got some yards). That run up the middle was also unbelievable. I couldn't understand how the running back was able to squirt right up the middle and all of a sudden, he is running in open field.

I will also admit I left before the game was over(around 6 minutes left) so I didn't see the late penalties (I will admit I didn't dress warm enough and the East wind was going right through me).
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

After the McNeese game I wondered to myself, as a fan what type of loss is worse, the 3 OT, Hobo Day loss to McNeese, that the Jacks should've won...or a game where you just get handled by a better team at home??

Well....I got that chance after leaving CAS last night feeling like I got kicked in the ballsack for the 2nd time in 3 weeks...I'll take the McNeese loss over last night's loss anytime.

I really don't have much to add about last night's game other than Indiana State better not even want to play another game after SDSU get's done with them, or I will be VERY dissapointed.
