That's why I put the part in about not bothering to try to blame XOS.

I think I know exactly what happened. XOS's servers bring up the feed for exactly four hours, then shut it down.

If cutting off the webcast of an ongoing game, regardless of how long it goes, doesn't breach SDSU's contract with them, then SDSU needs to find better lawyers.

I was quite upset about the screen going off as well but am willing to give the Athletic Department a chance to work it out so that there are some assurances that something like this won't happen again! I could feel all of the Jackrabbit Nation that was huddled around a computer or TV saying at the same time, "You've got to be *&#@ing me!" The group I was with was in that boat.

There needs to be a longer time open for the feed to accomodate a game like this one, weather delay, or whatever may come up.

Before I blow my top with emotion, I guess it is fair to say that since this was by far the longest game in SDSU history it was reasonable to assume that four hours was a large enough window for that link. As long as they get it squared away, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt!

Up until the broadcast went off the air, I was pretty happy with the service. The announcers were brutal but it was great to watch the game!

            Re: I'm miffed...

I am doubly mad because I defended the pricing and reasonableness of the feed only to have them take a big dump on my desk when the screen went blank. I don't mind being an idiot. I just don't like being told or shown that I'm an idiot.

I decided to stay old school and just listen to WNAX and am I glad I had that option. Man I would have been so PO'd if my screen had gone blank. Anybody hear any official word on what happened? I guess I better patronize the on air sponsors.

I guess I'm willing to give SDSU and XOS a little slack with their first ever broadcast.

However, I am a little more than miffed that they haven't at least sent out an apology email.

                    Re: I'm miffed...

Your anger is wrongly directed to wrong people. The feed was coming from Western Illinois and it was Western's responsibility to set up all the logicistical things. They failed to set up a buffer and thus you lost your feeds. This coming from Jason Hove who was asked about the situation during the soccer game. State has a buffer set in place so if it is a 7:00 game they have server rights until 11:30 or so.

To you and all the rest: can't fault anybody for being mad...but, hell, I pay over $200 a year for the Argus e-edition, and half the time I can't get a number of their pages because they still haven't worked out the bugs. Our new SDSU offering may need just a little slack to start with. I know that the staff is working overtime trying to make this all work.

Finally, I just drove 1100 miles, spent $400 in auto, gas, motel and food, to watch one Jacks football game. It was worth it (although I was certainly one "down" Jack during the final moments of the game.) Got one more away football game to add to the six at home and then my budget is shot for the football season! (Editor's note: there is, however, a reserve fund for the necessary items for tailgating!!)

                        Re: I'm miffed...

Greetings: I very much enjoyed meeting with and talking to many of you who came to Macomb - I hope all our fans treated you well and you enjoyed the "Pit". I'm sure that was not a fun drive home, however, for what it is worth I have spoken with several of our players and they all said basically the same thing. Your O and D lines are big, strong, and hit hard. Your RB is a load and you should run that horse until he drops. Our guys were very tired and we have a number of injuries from the intensity of that game - your guys are good and your QB will get better. One game does not make a season. We wish you the best and welcome to the Gateway. Your friend, Pinocchio

If that's the case then someone at SDSU needs to put out a statement stating as such. No offense bhm, but hearing the "official" reason third hand from you doesn't cut it for me.

Also what still needs to be explained is why the audiocast got shut off as well as the videocast. WIU shouldn't have anything to do with that, IMHO.
