  • Check out the following podcast, beginning about the 42-minute mark, to hear the some of the latest from Jimmy Rogers. He's loosened up his interview style, which is a plus, and maybe been pumping iron. I was amused by his and the host's talk about loyalty.

    • Washington State's, Jackrabbit-heavy football team isn't getting a lot of preseason respect. From SI.com:
"This week, ESPN released their Football Power Index rankings and projections for the upcoming 2025 season. Out of 136 FBS programs, the Cougars come in at No. 98. WSU finished the 2024 season at No. 65. Only two other FBS teams saw a rankings drop that substantial (Army and Marshall) compared the rankings released at the end of last season."

      • Interesting comment during DJ's interview at media day with Dom Izzo. Dom asked DJ if he instantly knew he wanted the job when he heard Jimmy was leaving. Dan said he "knew there were some things going on" but he still had some games to play at Idaho and that was his focus. I could be reading this wrong, but it sounds like Jimmy must have been discussing leaving with his peers as early as the first couple rounds of the playoffs.

        • Gronowski was on Barstool Sports Mostly Sports show with Brandon Walker and asked about his final choices. He stated Iowa, Miami, and Washington State since his coaching staff was headed there. Didn’t he choose Iowa well before Rogers announced his WSU departure? Maybe my timeline is wrong.

I think it was after that he announced Iowa because I remember outside media speculating that he might go to Washington State. I am more surprised about Miami considering they already had Carson Beck.

I also remember it being after because I had people ask me about Mark leaving. I stated it makes sense since everyone who recruited him to SDSU had left.

              • All season long and in the immediate aftermath it was assumed Mark would enter the draft. But then a few schools started offering much bigger bags than Mark's draft projections would have delivered.

I agree I think he decided to take this last opportunity to get what money he can because I don't think a QB should transfer to Iowa to increase their draft stock.

He said during the season that it would be his final one here because it was time to turn things over to Chase.

                    • Thanks everyone. My timeline was messed up as it was a whirlwind of activity in a few weeks. I’m cheering for Mark to do well at Iowa.
