  • Listened to the JI podcast with Coach Jackson on the recruiting class this morning (I was watching the MBB game when it was live last night). I get more excited about the program every time I hear Coach Jackson. Like someone pointed out during the pod, he doesn't appear to have any notes and he's talking about all 40+ recruits with personal stories.

Since the episode, the Jacks have added two more kids.
      1. Josiah Johnson, RB from Milwaukee, WI. Had nearly 2400 rushing yards and 34 TDs this past season. Was a finalist for the "Crazylegs" Hirsch Award given to the top RB in WI.
      2. Samuel Christensen, DT from Central Lyon HS. Don't know much about him yet.
Jackrabbits: Long ears, strong hind legs, gritty, relentless, fearless.

3yr HS starter for state-champ caliber teams playing interior OL and DL. HWT wrestler. 30+ ACT. Smart kid.

He attended prospect camp last summer for OL, and per hearsay, the coaches liked him but didn't offer because of tangible metrics. If coaches have 2 guys grading out the same, and one is 6'5" vs 6'2", it's tough to argue with their decisions.

I had always heard he was projected as OL at the next level, so DL came as a surprise. But at 6'2" 270, he has the frame/size to do it.

At the HS level, he could win a lot of battles with his size. Like most DL recruits, he will need at least a year on campus to develop strength, quickness, and technique.

        • Northeast Iowa continues to produce. If you get bored sometime, go to the Sports Center in Larchwood. Order one of their amazing pizzas and check out the jerseys on the walls. It is an impressive display.
One hand points to campus...the other to the liquor store.
