Why such a huge moneyline for SDSU?

in the opinion of the obscure expert:

People think SDSU is much stronger physically and just as talented. Unfortunately for the Kats they are known as Soft Houston.

Our analysis discounts this. The Bison win highlites just how physical the Kats are.

They don't quit as demonstrated by the JMU win.

On such a big game There has rarely been a discrepancy of 9 points between our book and “Midas” the legendary sports line computing device now rumored to be under the MCasino, 8 miles off the strip.

The purpose of our book is to find games where the systems are at odds and take appropriate action. We dont like to take positions on very close games, too much uncertainty. Lopsided contests are avoided as well because the juice will kill you. This one is perfect.

During the golden run of NDSU you could do well taking the Bison to cover huge, huge spreads. It was fun.

Scoring is 3 possible points per game: Winner with points, over under, moneyline.

upsets happen. For the playoffs to date:

    All games 12 of 18. 67%

Eliminate the upset (SHSU over NDSU) and its 80%. 12 of 15. Our system had the Bison.

Choose carefully and watch the juice it will take you down fast.

Money is pouring in and odds are moving

Heres how the juice works. Juice = money in excess of even bet

      odds update:

      SDSU -6: -112. bet $112 to win $100. Give 6 points. EXPENSIVE

SHSU +6: -109. bet $109 to win $100. Get 6 points. CHEAP. Our line has SHSU -4.

O/U 47.5. least predictable of the 3 opportunities

Over bet -112. Bet $112 to win $100. EXPENSIVE but our line says 50

Under bet -109. Bet $109 to win $100. EXPENSIVE

      Moneyline

SDSU -230. bet $230 to win $100. EXPENSIVE. strong conviction wager possible hedge for SDSU fans not wanting to give points

SHSU -170. EXPENSIVE. its our indicated winner but better to take SHSU and points with your money.

Forecast not looking great tomorrow from the NWS

        Sunday
Showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 76. South southeast wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.”

Seems a shame that Cowboys indoor practice stadium at Omni Frisco which seats 10,000 is sitting empty tomorrow!

hey milbank, in your comparison of the common opponent, NDSU, you said that SHSU scored more. i did not go back to check, as i obviously can, but i am pretty sure the jacks scored 27 against bison and kats scored 24.

probably there is some betting thing you are talking about with the mythical field and crap like that, but if it is straight up who scored more, i am pretty sure the jacks did. also as a team they gave up fewer points to the bison, although most of the points against the kats were not scored on the defense

The other factor not mentioned is that Sam Houston beat the Bison at home, while the Jacks beat them in the Fargodome.

James Madison's fans kept calling us Soft Houston to. But in the end they we're softer.

no, it was my mistake rendering some of the analysis to the irrelevant column. The point addressed was soft Houston. are the kats soft? Is that the reason for the moneyline getting out of whack with the spreads?

I havent seen either team play. I dont really watch much football. Dont need to with the book. Book tells all. Our analysis stands. Kats -4. They are not “soft Houston”.

ps. anytime you see a spread and an over/under the mythical score can be calculated. Its simply not mentioned most of the time. The mythical scores and field lengths help visualize whats happening

This should be a great game. We will be watching. im from Milbank after all. We took the Kats and 6 points. SDSU on the moneyline was considered as a hedge and a nod to our emotional favorite but felt the spread bet would have to be double the moneyline so we passed. Our bank is low. We werent active during the regular season but fired up for the playoffs.

We have a single ticket for SHSU +6.

I won't waste much time on semantics, but I find it baffling folks dismiss "soft" moniker despite the deficits the Bearkats found themselves facing. Sure, they prevailed, but the data suggest that if they weren't soft for much of their games, maybe "extra springy" would be a more apt descriptor.

Every playoff opponent the Jacks have faced has been framed by some as being Jacks' kryptonite. Holy Cross had its vaunted run defense. SIU had their coaching darling and offensive moxie. Delaware also had a stout defense and stellar QB. The Jacks dispatched them all, and the "lines" I care most about are the Jacks OL and DL, which have served them well thus far

Jacks win by at least 10

I'm not buying the "soft Houston" nonsense. Sounds like something some other fan base (cough cough) would push.

I tend to be in the "respect all opponents regardless of our and their records/reputations, until they give you reason not to" camp.
