wait a second, didnt that qb that left last summer run a 4.4 (40). from what has been said no other qb has ran that fast. so dont say sdsu needs speed, they need to learn how to use it or lose it

I don't think Adrian leaving has anything to do with this discusion. We have a QB coming back who may be a better athlete than him, and throws a better ball, Andy Kardoes. He left because he would have had headsets on until his senior year.

that's funny. the point im makin is, that team has guys who are fast and they just need to use them. as far as the track/football goes, rb's, wr's, gb's,lb's,cb's should be on the track team or at least work out with the track team.

Any update on the number of recruits who were in Brookings over the weekend and at Frost Saturday night. Usually I notice current players escorting players around at the game and did not see any potential recruits.

I stayed at the Comfort Inn In Brookings over the weekend. I did overhear in the contenntial breaksfast room some parents talking about their son being there for a visit. Also when I checked out there four young guys, who appeared to be high school seniors, sitting by the checkout desk and when I went by with my SDSU coat on one of them said "Go Jacks". Since its against NCAA rules to talk or introduce yourself or to have any contact, I did not try to find out more. So parents and players were there, but following the rules, like a good fan should, you almost have to ignore them.

Saturday Morning as I finished my walking at the wellness center and was walking to my car, I saw Karl Ballard drive up with a Pool vehicle and when he got out I said too Karl " I bet this is a big day" He said, yes I wish it were warmer, We have 6 guys from California and Arizona visiting. I said "Well we might as well be honest about the weather, I dont think we can fool them on this point." Karl smiled and went into the HPER building.

I think they had quite a bunch in so, who knows what we will get out of this. If any make oral commitments before the signing day we will find that out Otherwise, I dont expect find out much more.

I heard that we had two quarterbacks in this weekend. From what I understood we can only sign 1 (If we only had 20 more scholarships) One kid was from California and is the little brother of the qb at Fresno (Pinegar). The other is from Arizona and has an offer from Eastern Washington. Coaches are very high on both but I think they like the Arizona kid a little more. Hopefully we will hear something very soon on the outcome of these two.

                  Mike,

Do you know if he was offered a ride or is he walking on? When back over the holidays I only heard luke warm comments on his college prospects. I heard concerns on his speed/height for football. I speak of this with absolutely zero personal knowledge on his ability, so please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

I would have loved to had Josh Mahoney on the Jacks squad. While he is a little bit of a tweener for a linebacker size wise and most likely too slow to play runningback this kid has heart and I have no doubt he will turn into a good college player. I really hope in 2006 the Jacks can get Anthony Thompson from Roosevelt a 6'3 215 lb junior fullback with all the tools. Thompson manhandled Mahoney on the wrestling mat recently.

I saw a ton of them.  They were in sections AA and FF.  In the first half I saw that Luke Meadows had a rather large young man with him.  He stopped by during the second half to say hi (without this giant of a recruit) and said he was very busy.  I told him I understood.

Have heard that the quarterback prospect from Arizona has committed to the Jacks. Sounds like he is an excellent athlete.....

If this is the guy and according to the interview, NAU is the only one showing interest, we have a very good chance.  NAU in Flagstaff gets lots of snow and maybe not cold like SD, but its winter. Also NAU has a Dome facility.  His short but productive career at QB is interesting, but maybe there is talent and a very good attitude to go with it.

Opps after re-reading it says Austin Martin feels he is going to be a safety or cornerback in college ball. Either way I hope we can offically sign this guy.

If you look at the very bottom of the story you will also see that Weber State and Cornell have jumped into the hunt for Austin Martin.
