It sounds like the running game isn't the problem for the bears in this game. It's their inability on Defense. Ealy sounds like he's running well.

I was at the game. I think the refs were pretty flag-happy on many of those unsportsmanlike calls, both on the Jacks and the Bears. Why not just separate players and talk to them rather than throwing the flag every time?

i agree, i was at the game, the refs sucked. they threw flags when they didnt have to. mostly against the jacks. attendance? good question, ever heard but there were a lot of cold bodies out there. hardly anyone sitting on the east side, a few unc fans and a few jack fans. maybe 1500?

this was the least of your worries today, your running back elay? had one heck of a game as he had tough running on almost every touch.  You were outmatched on the lines and on the defensive side of the ball today.  

I don't want to sound cocky, even though i have never seen a bears fan give us an ounce of credit either here or on any other message board (AGS, bisonville, etc.), but this game shouldn't have been this close.  I don't think(somebody correct me if i am wrong) UNC crossed the fifty yardline more than two times on offense unless we gave them the ball there.  They scored on one good drive and the interception we handed to them on the first play.  The only other time they threatened the end zone (or heck midfield) was when they blocked the punt before the half.  Not too mention they blew that, although i must say i have never seen five timeouts from both squads in a matter of 30 seconds as i did on that series.

If the jacks hadn't committed the stupid penalites (personal fouls), which were our own demise, we would have had at least one if not two more td's.  I can live with the other flags, but there was just too many late penalites.  
All in all it was a ugly game from both teams, lots of flags, a few to's, and a cold crappy day...
I love football  ;D  One last thing, our seniors played great, McCall had an int td, DJ Fischer & Koeningsfeld both had sacks, Kirch was everywhere, Murray and Keizer led the line, Moliter had a few catches, and Davis was JD one last time.  We will miss all of them.

Good luck to the bears in the sky, hopefully they can get some wins, as they left the great west with a big fat zero in that column.  (edit...i forgot they still play Davis next week...maybe they will reach the win column)

Average home attendance this year was 6,972. We really need to do something to boost post-Hobo Day attendance--more promotions, something . . .

Did anybody hear what the heck the flags were for late in the game when we intercepted the pass, advanced it to near the goal line, but then lost what at least seemed like 30 yards? I am assuming it was an unsportsmanlike after the int, but though it was interesting the ref's mic to the board did not seem to work to explain it.

I've talked to other alumni and have talked to students downtown at the bars, and I think the low numbers late in the season were just a result of having so many home games this year. It takes a die hard fan to go to 8 games. It being 40, cloudy, and windy today probably didn't help much either. I was at 7 of the 8 home games, but I can see why others don't come to all of them. Thats alot of saturday's to give up in a fall.
