I must agree with FargoBison. I think alot of Bison fans dont really realize what happens behind the scene in conference talks. When we got into the Mid-con, the press really was left in the dark (about the actual negotiations) until after the deal was finalized. Now the press seems to be reporting evey aspect of it and I dont think some Bison fans realize that this is typical for getting into any conference.

Sounds like good negotiating to me.

Gateway: You need to pay $x to join. Our travel costs will go way up so pay us more; $x + y.

SDSU/NDSU: But you would have to travel where ever you go so we should just pay you $x.

Solution will probably be, pay an initiation fee in between 'x' and 'x + y'

Check out this poll on this Youngstown State web site. Only 17 people have voted so far, but it 1/2 for an 1/2 against letting the two XDSU's into the Gateway.

I think that is why Youngstown State has been so low key on the expansion issue, obviously they risk inciting a riot.

By the way, am also hearing some rumblings from some people who know what they're talking about that there are a couple Missouri Valley-Gateway schools that want to bring the Mizzou Valley to an all-sports conference status.  That means some schools would have to add football.  Not sure what it would mean to NDSU and SDSU, but it sure is interesting to think about for the Bison and Jacks, being that closely affiliated to the MV.  Could there be a day when the Missouri Valley adds football, and considers the Daks for all-sports?  Seems a long shot, but you never know.  A $500,000 buyout is steep, but if the reason is good enough, maybe...

My sources tell me that were both going to be in the Gateway.
