Why do you come on here to add something that is totally irrelevent to the topic.  I have a cousin on the equestrian team and she just loves it.  Just becasue you don't understand anything about equestrian doesn't give you the right to bring it down.

And some Bison fans wonder why SDSU fans think we are all just a bunch of pricks?

Sorry Filbert, i just needed to say something.[/quote]

I would never say SDSU fans think Bison fans are "pricks" by any means, but this guy "2006gwfcchamps" is definitely wearing out his welcome.  I've notice that he is getting to that point on the bison board also.

Back to the Equestrian talk...looking back on the administrations forsight to make this a sport at SDSU 20 years from now, may very well be the wisest decision that Dr. Oien and Dr. Miller made in a string of many wise decisions over the past 4 years at SDSU.
I'm sure 2006gwfcchamps with his tounge hanging out and eyes glassed over, is left wondering how that could be as he reads this post.  It comes down to the parents of these girls being considered, "high-end donors"!!  And if you don't understand what and how important a "high-end donor" is, you need to go back to the D-II world where the "high-end donor" really isn't that important.

        Go Jacks!!
        SDSU...Passionate, Relentless, Champions.

Not to mention how much it enhances our Title IX compliance based on the pure number of athletes the sport requires.

Well, considering that the University of Kentucky buttonholed our administrators about how we're building our equestrian program when we were there for the Guardians basketball tournament last year, I'd say that pretty much speaks for itself. (You know, Kentucky? Where they grow all the horses? )

And, attempting to get the thread back on-subject, since you're starting to see design concepts for the fieldhouse/student-athlete center, I'd say it's safe to say that those are the next major facilities enhancements in the queue.

I mean, according to "sources close to the SDSU AD" that the Kentucky people came over to the SDSU people and said 'hey, we hear you're setting up a woman's equestrian program. How are you doing that?"

With all the speculation about what to do and how, and how much money would be needed...face up to the fact that Coughlin Alumni Stadium (the west concrete structure) is on its last legs and may have a maximum of 10-15 years left before it needs to be torn down and replaced. So it is not just the north facility (locker rooms, coaches offices, study areas, weight rooms, training, etc), or a covered practice facility that will need funding before long.

I don't think you will find anyone who disagrees with you. All the talk that I have heard about "renovations" to CAS includes new grandstand on both the East and West sides.

When all is done, I have been told the "New" CAS would look a lot like Montana State's stadium, with the ability to expand later as our needs expand.

Lets pray we never have an earth quake especially during a well attended game. The aisles are too narrow and the lack of rail supports make it unsafe right now and may be too costly to improve so starting over may very well be the answer. I suppose they could build the east side first and once that is completed, the west could be razed and rebuilt. Problem is still need money no matter how its done.

Here's some information regarding a couple or our multi million dollar alumuni.

Don Endres is an SDSU grad who CEO of Vera Sun energy. He owns over 30 million shares. The stock is currently valued at about $20 a share. I'm not sure how to properly calculate net worth. But that's $600 million dollars of stock.

                        I also attached his bio.

Al Kurtenbach has roughly 2.6 million shares of Daktronics, currently valued at about $35 a share. So he has $90 million in Dak stock. His children and his brother, Frank, also have a significant amount of stock. I can't even speculate how much. Also most of the Daktronics senior managers and VP's are SDSU grads. At one time the SDSU foundation was listed as one of the top institutional holders. But it appears that they have decreased thier ownership over the last couple of years.

Another successful alumnus is Gordon Ommen. He is on the board of directors of US Bioenergy. Another publicly traded ethanol firm. US Bioenergy is now owned or managed by the Cenex corporation. Check out their website. He owns roughly 300,000 shares. The stock is currently at $13. He also has been featured on the SDSU foundation website.

                        http://finance.yahoo.com/q/mh?s=usbe

But the most fascinating alum may be Jim Morgan, CEO of Daktronics. He owns roughly 1.5 million shares of both Daktronics and US Bioengery. About $80 million in stocks.

                        http://biz.yahoo.com/t/70/4232.html

I can't find any information regarding Broin companies (Sioux Falls), and SDSU graduates. But Broin is one the largest ethanol companies in the world. It manages the production of 1 billion gallons of ethanol a year. I hope we have some SDSU grads on the inside.

If ethanol and soy diesel boom, SDSU could benefit 10 fold. Look at the University of Oklahoma. All of thier buildings are named after oil company execs.

I got the chance to talk with Don Endres a few times while I was working in Brookings - once when the Aurora plant was under construction and again when he was named a Forbes top executive. Not only is he one of the nicest guys around, he is an incredibly intelligent businessman. I know there were a couple of businesses in Watertown that were struggling when he bought them. He completely turned them around and sold them for hefty profits. I'd say that if you hear he is starting out on a new venture and you have the chance to get in on it, do it.

If I'm not mistaken, Endres also created a company for campus card systems that are now pervasive everywhere (swipe your card to buy a meal, check out a book, buy a soda in a machine, etc.) He made a bundle on that. So he's an entrepreneur four or five times over, and he's a pretty young guy.

I probably shouldn't give designs for the new/ renovated CAS because nobody knows how it will look or the money needed/ given for the project. But I saw this on Westen Kentucky's web site and well decided to post anyway.  Remember because of there move up a classification and to the SunBelt for football kick started discussion for the Gateway. So here is what S37.5 million will do for them.

Currently WKU stadium is around 16,000 with bleachers  on only one side.

It has been 8 years sinse I have been to WKU.  I would say our facilities hold up very well to their's.  Or at least they did then.
