Not a surprise. He will be forced to redshirt/sit-out which will give him a chance to bulk up and develop. His ceiling is high and that is why Nebraska is willing to spend a scholarship on him.

Yep not a surprise. Felt that is the route he was going to take. Also his host family brother (Housmann) was a walk-on this past year at Nebraska.

If he transfers from FBS to FCS, he does not have to sit out. If you go the other way around, you do. Or FBS to FBS. This is why many of our athletes that transfer out end up at local NSIC schools. It's also a reason we dont get very many NSIC kids transferring to SDSU. If you're moving up, you have to sit. If you're moving down, you are usually eligible immediately. The rule is in place, in part, to protect FCS/D2/D3 from becoming a farm system for the FBS. Kids would be much more likely tovttansfer up for their senior/junior season if they had had standout underclassmen years and became "noticed" by FBS schools that had passed on them in High School.

This is correct. Here's a couple examples of the top of my head:

Bryce Banks transferred in from NC State (FBS) and played right away. Michael Griffin transferred from SMSU (D2) and had to sit a year, same with Mason Leighton from Dakota State. However, if you transfer twice in two years you need to sit one year regardless, like Grant Schmidt going from Ohio State>Cincinnati>SDSU.

No, he'd have to sit out for one season. Per NCAA rules:

"If you transfer from a four-year college to an NCAA school, you must complete one academic year in residence at the new school before you can play for or receive travel expenses from the new school, unless you qualify for a transfer exception or waiver. To satisfy an academic year in residence, you must be enrolled in and successfully complete a full-time program of studies for two-full semesters or three-full quarters. Summer school terms and part-time enrollment do not count toward fulfilling an academic year in residence."

Exceptions
Exception: If you meet a legislated exception, it means a specific regulation will not apply to you. The school to which you are transferring determines whether you are eligible and has the authority to apply exceptions.

One-time transfer exception: If you transfer from a four-year school, you may be immediately eligible to compete at your new school if you meet ALL the following conditions:

You are transferring to a Division II or III school, or you are transferring to a Division I school in any sport other than baseball, men's or women's basketball, football (Football Bowl Subdivision) or men’s ice hockey. If you are transferring to a Division I school for any of the previously-listed sports, you may be eligible to compete immediately if you were not recruited by your original school and you have never received an athletics scholarship.
You are academically and athletically eligible at your previous four-year school.
You receive a transfer-release agreement from your previous four-year school.
Waiver: An action that sets aside an NCAA rule because a specific, extraordinary circumstance prevents you from meeting the rule. An NCAA school may file a waiver on your behalf; you cannot file a waiver for yourself. The school does not administer the waiver, the conference office or NCAA does.

Since we are not football (FBS), doesn't that mean there is an exception?

Jacks have reportedly been in contact and may have advantage over Huskers due to latter's glut of incoming OL

He could also play for us right away since he's moving down a level, correct?

That would be a huge addition for next year, especially with Clark and Greeneway graduating.

Looks like another player Jacks were reportedly in contact with. His drive and grit are impressive.

Our coaching staff seemed to have a very positive relationship with him during the recruiting process a year ago. Hopefully that may pay off now.

Isaiah Stalbird would be a good get to add more depth to Dan Jackson's crew. Stalbird led the Huskers in special teams tackles as a redshirt freshman and has entered the transfer portal. He's from Kearney, NE and was a key reason they made the finals a couple of years ago.

I was going to post this also....I think he would standout at the FCS level.
