I know. Dale is a subject of banter and abuse on Bisonville and being the former head coach at UND does not help win the affections of some of those rascals on Bisonville. I never referred Dr Chicone as a stache until some one posted a link to a Twitter which I thought was funny and very bold. I think you know what I am speaking of.

What I notice about the defense is they seldom change packages. I don't even think they have an 8 man short yardage package. They keep the LB's in on obviuos passing downs. I know they are short CB's, but they did this the last few years too.
Where Stig is responsible - the simple fact - he is in charge. When a coach is in trouble, changes usually occur - ie. coordinators resign or resign. As someone pointed out earlier, Sell did not hire Stig. I am not saying Stig will or should be fired. That is up to the AD. All I know is the AD is trying to get great new facilities, which will cost money and at the same time add money. Losing football games doesn't help this cause. Another area where Stig is responsible is that the Jacks talent level is not below the other teams. It is coaching that is getting them beat. The staff is responsible for the talent level anyway.

Watch Stig's press conferance. He looks baffled, frazzled, and searching for answers. Whether this is true or not, the perception he portraid is there. What baffles me is Stig flat out said he is not responsible for personel decisions. No one has mentioned this yet. The head guy is not in charge of personel decisions? Shouldn't the head coach have the final say as he is responsible? Stig also said that he disagreed with his assistant coaches opinions in regard to this during the press conferance. Do you bench your best players for the biggest game of the year when the head coach disagrees with the tatic?

Add this to all of the turmoil this year. TOB, suspending captains, losing, etc. Staying the course may be the Jacks way and the way the things are done in Brookings. Does the AD agree with this? Hence I predict some change, but could be just foolish thinking on my part.

The next three games will be telling. The Jacks have a chance to win all three. Here is hoping that they do.

LSU has probably the best college football team in the country. You can't turn on ESPN without them suspending a player or 10. But, they continue to win and everyone just shrugs it off that three of their best players (all with NFL careers in the future) were suspended for SMOKING SYNTHETIC WEED! How does that reflect on the coaching staff? Apparently, it doesn't because he has enough talent in Louisiana to just plug someone else in there.

Don't forget NDSU was turds just recently, as TV pointed out in the articles leading up to last Saturday's game. Last year's national champs are suffering through a losing season and lost to USD. Such is life at the FCS level. You have one or two bad years or miss on some recruits and you aren't going to continue to win. This isn't Ohio State or LSU where kids grow up in California dreaming of playing for us. Every kid who is on the SDSU roster dreamt of playing for Notre Dame or Wisconsin or USC or some other big program. The coaching staff had to find these players, convince them to come to SDSU, hope they make it 4-5 years without flunking out or being injured, and hope they lived up their potential. There are going to be years where you swing and miss. We are currently in those years.

We are, however, 2 years removed from making the playoffs for the first time in decades. Until last year, we had never had a losing season at the D1 level. USD is still hoping to have their first winning season against D1 competition (still had a cupcake on the schedule). As a whole, the disappointment with the program right now is because of their own prior SUCCESS. Stig hasn't all of a sudden become a bad coach because we're struggling.

One last thing to think about before I end my novel here. If coach Stig had been fired just before our forray into D1 football and some other coach was hired who produced the same results that Stig has for the past 8 or so years, that coach would be thought of as a hero in the system. Not saying people are hating on coach Stig, just saying that he doesn't always get the credit he deserves for the success we've had. He blew away expectations for the program as we were going into the move. We were a middle of the pack NCC team at the DII level. He made us into and upper tier DI program that is STILL RECEIVING VOTES in the national polls at 2-6. That respect is a direct result of his coaching and decision making ability.

I'll take Alabama for best team, FWIW.

And I am shocked that athletes smoke weed. Shocked.

That was a great post and I'd like to add to it. I think a lot of the disappointment from our fan base in the performance of this team this season and last definitely comes from making the playoffs for the first time in decades. We had a taste and we want more. I really think it boils down to 2 points.

                1. Although we made the playoffs, the way the loss happened to Montana may still be haunting this team and our fan base. It's like we have never recovered from losing that game the way we did. If we win, with that kind of momentum, who knows how deep we go.

                2. No one here really wants to say it, but I will. I am scared sh*tless that USD is going to beat us next year in our first meeting, in our own house. That would be an absolute nightmare in terms of recruiting, stadium support, and on down the line.

2A. If we have another losing season next year and we lose to USD, there is, unfortunately, no way Stig survives.

USD loses a ton of starters. I wouldn't bet against them against us this year; they've got a **** ton of talent. But a lot of that talent leaves next year. We only lose Dale on offense. I think we take them.

The 2011 season is over with in regards to SDSU even if we win the remaining three games, we still end up 5-6 which would be okay with me, but its becoming a real loyality test to watch or listen to the final three games. I cant blame anyone for looking ahead.

Great post if you see everything thru blue colored glasses.

You missed the point. There is no call for Stig to be fired. The post stated we never adequately replaced Wilkinson. We need a D I Offensive coordinator.

The past sure is great and we can talk about it all day. The fact is the team isn't as good as the past since choking away the second half in Montana.

I agree, with Wilkenson as O-cord it wasnt uncommon to put up 40+ points again. This year and last, I get happy if we break 20 points. I dont think its a drop off in talent either. effort or execution might not be as good but we are still talented, just we are not doing well from the coaching side as we had before IMO. Also Special teams use to be amazing, now we probably get a penalty 50% of the time. I feel that has to do with coaching, and mental mistakes. Also watching our D try to strip the ball or miss tackles just drives me up the wall. I really think Stig is the right fit to keep as head coach. we really need a D-1 cordinator for sure. Now only if we had the money to pay well enough to get one.

Not sure who is making the decision to constantly shuttle offensive lineman in and out on what seems like every other play. I can understand having more than five linemen that deserve playing time. But it makes sense to me to keep the same unit in for an entire possession, and then make changes on the next drive. The way its being done now gives the appearance of people not knowing whats going on.

I have never played as an offensive lineman, but I like to think things through, and to me, it would be hard for the unit to gel if they are rotating to many players. As a RB it might be hard to know if people will make their blocking assignments when they change so much.

I'm all for keeping them fresh but if you are running them in and out every 2-3 plays are they staying fresh?
