The coaching staff needs to get more creative. That is clear. But I can't fire a coach unless I give him the facilities to compete. The Dykhouse Center is nice, but look at the budgets and facilities and understand why NDSU is better.

For the Bison faithful on this forum. NDSU played a whale of a game and has a whale of a team. They are having a whale of a season. I expect the Bison will represent whale in the playoffs.

        6. I wish our crowd was half as into the game as the NDSU fans were.

        7. Time for some new blood and new ideas at the head coaching position. Stig is a great person and nice guy, but at some point a change needs to be made. If the Yankees can get rid of Torre and the Broncos can get rid of Shanahan we can turn the page to the next coach of SDSU FB.

I am not saying it is the fans fault we lost. I am just envious of how the NDSU fans get vocal behind their team. Our fans could learn a few things.

If the head coach doesn’t bear at least some of the responsibility for a loss, then who does? I don't think the players call their own plays do they?

The problem isn't necessarily the plays called, though selection can be argued. The problem is in execution of the plays called. Perfect execution would lead to positive yardage on each play. Of course, we cannot expect perfect execution on offense or defense. Hence the game.

My point is this call for Stigs head is to put it bluntly, not intelligent. Keep in mind the switch to a RF QB mid-season. Expecting a win, with a RF QB, against a top 5 team is a bit of a stretch unless Bear is coaching.

I can't argue that, some creativity needs to be found on both sides of the ball. When is the last time SDSU ran a trick play? I know that the problems run deeper then that but that's a start. The offense is really plain, some people argue that its personal but look at how much better they do in the flash? I've heard people say there was a hole, yeah there was and then one of NDSU's very good linebackers got to it and met the RB right there, so to me its more about style, I've never understood what the point of the wingback or whatever it is in SDSU's offense. Go split backs, go with a fullback, go with a flanker, but that wing back blocking TE I just don't like. They also need to find a deep threat of a receiver. It would open a lot up. On defense, I could have picked that zone apart that is how poor it was. Is it personal? or coaching? IDK, but its poor. They have given up way to many big plays.

NDSU's was every bit as young as ours. They were just better.

I agree either side of the ball. Mainly to bring in 1 or 2 new guys. Some fresh ideas. Not promote with in. Or change responsibilities who does play calling for both side.

Our zone coverage is to soft and easy to hit the seams. Hence the 15 yard third down plays we consistantly give up. Then again our on the ball defense sure lacks hence the pass interference calls. I feel we do better out of the split back sets then power with the lead blocker who imo misses the block or fails to clear the hole for the rbs. The flash works because we have options that keeps the D guessing. When you stack the line and have a lead blocker its pretty obvious we are going to run. If us fans can see that the other team sure can. Would love to see sumner develop enough to audibe at the line to adjust for the D formation and change the play to give us the advantage. Why not run out of a passing set and pass out of a running set. Why not bootleg the qb out. Why not run sweeps to the side and pull a lineman or too. Maybe we are not good enough to do these things. Either we are not recruiting the right guys or coaching them well enough to do it. I don't think it would be to complicated to learn a few different formations or sets.

Biggest thing in off season. Lineman both sides need to get bigger and faster and stronger. And safeties need to imrpove. As long as the skill positions on offense return they need to shake the demons that keep them from finding the end zone. Line backers next year I think will be the strenght on d but we need some size and depth on the line for sure.

I guess that's it for now.

Too early to talk about firing Stig, but things need to be different by next season or I suspect changes could be made. He needs to be given one more chance to shuffle up coordinators. Justin Sell didn't hire Stig, and I don't think he needs to be loyal to him for any reason. I don't like the "change QB in the middle of the season" excuse. He brought that upon himself. We can all CLEARLY see that Sumner should have been taking the snaps under center from game 1. Hindsight is always 20-20, but we all knew this long before the coaching staff seemed to realize it.

Changes have to be made on the offensive coaching staff, no doubt. 1st and goal from the 1 and you call 2 pass plays and end up with 0 points? C'mon man! Tell your guys they have 4 plays to get 1 stinking yard and we're gonna run the ball off tackle or up the middle every time. Hell, spread it out and let Sumner run a QB draw. I also tell them if they can't get me 1 yard in 4 plays, they don't deserve to wear the SDSU uniform. Horrible, horrible, horrible playcalling on that momentum changing sequence. I don't care if Rollin was open and Sumner missed him.

Give me a headset! Stig, you know my number.

It's almost like the game is moving to fast for our coaching staff. Even if we had a good scheme in place, which I don't think we do, it seems the guys in charge are often in reaction mode instead of action mode. Result, defense is on its heals and the offense is stymied and stuck in 3rd and long time after time. It seems Coach Stig is not offering up any excuses at this point, the coaches need to do a better job.

Sumner put that ball right into Rollins' hands. He dropped it. Good play call and it should have worked. After that incompletion the Bison knew they were going to run it on 2nd down and then came 3rd down. I understand your comment and I agree with you, but it should have been a touchdown.
