Also the current home of the FCS championship game Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, TX is a professional soccer stadium http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pizza_Hut_Park . The former home of the FCE championship game at UT Chattanooga plays football and soccer in their stadium http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finley_Stadium.

I would say half of the FCS stadiums are multipurpose stadiums including the UC Davis, University of Delaware, Drake University and Youngstown State University http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...tball_stadiums.
I went to KU. The track around the football field is awful. No one said they have to quit playing FBS football, that's not the issue here and no one said it was.

Regarding other schools putting a million lines all over their fields and using it for other things: just because they do it doesn't mean we need to or should do it. I personally think we should not.

I would agree, it seem each sport is becoming more and more complex and seem to require their own facility. Batching sports together does not seem to work especially bb and football, our neighbors to the south found that out and are trying to fix that problem with a new bb arena. We may find the same problem when we build the addition to the Dykhouse, will act as a indoor facility for track and field, football, baseball and softball.

Actually, the Indoor Practice Facility in the master plan will be an indoor facility for indoor track competition, but will serve only as a practice field for all the other outdoor sports. It will be used a lot by all of them, and scheduling will be the only conflict, which they will all work out. I saw the practice facility at Akron which ours is modeled after, and it was really neat. Since there is no income possible for such a facility (compared to the stadium), I only hope we can somehow find the person, persons or company who will underwrite it...because it is definitely needed more (for a lot of reasons) right now than the stadium project IMHO.

I think there's some stuff going on behind the scenes--based on a couple items in the BOR agenda:

1 - the Human Performance Facility is included in the "It Starts With State" campaign, so fully funding that campaign will build the facility.

2 - the spec calls for an MRI. Now that could be a 'throw it against the wall and see if it sticks' bit of blue sky, but it could also be a case where the Orthopedic Institute, say, is going to be more than just a name sponsor (a la Avera & the Avera building).

The competition for useage was my concern as well. I guess I did not clearly state that. When you have two or three sports wanting to get a practice in before their actual competition often some point south of here, there are likely to be conflicts, I am sure they can work it. I increased my monthly ETR so am now putting 100 bucks towards a facility acorn. And yes we need some big donor(s) to underwrite this facility and Zoo might be on to something.

This paragraph is from a game story in today's Washington Post. Wilson High School just got a brand new building and sports facility, including the latest field turf:

"And the turf field, for all of its benefits, was a tad slick, which led to a few slip-ups, fumbles and dropped passes. As a result, both teams played a halting first half that included only six first downs and three points."
