Our idea was to have the cheer team strike the bell just prior to leading the team on the field.
Currently our prototype weighs in at about 250 some pounds, and is approximately 4" tall and is made of 3/16" welded steel.
We are looking for people to volunteer on this project as it is expensive for just 2 guys.
If we have this made, we will need to paint it and letter it (I was thinking Vinyal lettering and automotive paint), and build a clapper (prolly just going to hang like a 12# kettle ball).
Also if someone would like perform an FEA (Finite Element Analysis)to find the harmonics (I Think this can be done.. I'm an EE not a ME), I would be glad to send you the file in solid works format so perhaps the dimensions could be tweaked to increase tone and amplitude..
Thoughts?
I would do 2 different styles, one side current SDSU logo of some kind. the other with the classic look of the rooter king."The most rewarding things you do in life, are often the ones that look like they cannot be done.” Arnold Palmer

Re: Intro Video
Another good song for the intro would be "You're Going Down" by the Sick Puppies. The words are really appropriate for the pre-game of a football game. At least it gets me fired up:

OK, then. Here's why it was suggested: There is a double-door in the Dykhouse Center for the team to emerge from. Why is that a problem? There is a door post in the center. Thus there's no fast way to get 70 or 80 large men out that door. So if the team is going to emerge from the Dykhouse, either they cut a new door in the building or we get some kind of tunnel to hold the team while they wait OR they come out and stand there while the video plays.Holy nutmeg!

Re: Intro Video
How about the band lined up for the team to run between on the field, drum line in front of the stands doing some cool drum routine to build the tension. The giant bell sounds three times, two giant propane flame throwers (portable of course) in each endzone on either side of the goal posts fire off with a loud bang, flames and smoke. The band plays Yellow and Blue as the team takes the field. This is all preceeded by a fire up video on scoreboard.
