Thank you for posting this EQguy. I was going to compare Locker's stats to TOB's too, but you did it for me! Looks like TOB fared better...and our team did too, even though we lost.

During the press conference Coach made it seem that they made the move just for this game to handle Nebraska's D alignment but I hope they end up keeping it.
We've always heard that Will Castle was a good player so I'm glad they found a way to get him on the field. Does anybody know who was playing the LG tonight? Was it Ludemann?

I saw TOB once in person, at Western Illinois, not impressed. I was able to see a few shots of him in the NU highlight video, hardly a place to see him at his best, but he looked a lot better.

Based on what I saw, I take back the negative comment, he seemed to show more than I saw in Macomb. I was wrong.

A few quick comments about yesterday:
It was great to see old teammates and friends.

Tailgating was a blast. Very well done.

Pregame was awesome. I hope the people that do ours were there and taking notes.

The game was good. You could feel the stadium shaking from your feet on up. That place rocks with 85,000+ in there. Very cool. We had our chances, but in the end we were 0-1 this past weekend.

I hope the fanbase from SDSU that sits on their hands and complains about cheering was there. What a great sight to see fans actually cheering their team on.

On a personal note, the people we sat around were Husker fans and very nice people. I didn't know what to expect, but the older gentleman I sat by gave me some ribbing and took it right back when I gave it to him.

Overall, another good fan experience at the second big time college venue I have been to (Yes I am including my experience at TCF Bank Stadium).

            Re: Nebraska vs SDSU

I didn't get to watch last night. I heard a bit on the radio when I could. Obviously, the best showing of the year. I hoped we could hold them to fewer than 50 points, but wasn't especially optimistic. Nice work, Jacks! Hope this can be a badly-needed building block that serves as a boost for the rest of the season. Doesn't sound like the refs did us any favors last night, but that's the way it goes sometimes. Need to get the offense in sync and get ourselves a W. I am not big on moral victories, but occasionally you can claim one. This qualifies...though I know the team has already denied that in quotes I've read. Anyhow, it'll be interesting to see how Nebraska fares in the polls this week. Hope those of you who made the trip had fun.
Grumbling along and embracing my role. If I didn't care, I wouldn't care. Go Jacks!

Yes he is. He's not seeing open guys and flat out missing on most of his throws.

Being the devil's advocate here, but is this not what got Taylor Martinez benched?

Yes. Two not very good quarterbacks last night! We all know TOB's potential... but it is simply time for him to step up and play better. Our offensive line played great last night and gave him enough time to throw. His decision making was not bad at all, like someone else said he just misses open receivers.

Well, they got nobody backing up TOB that's been in the system long enough to step in on short notice.

Stu, during the chat, said something about D-1 QBs being ready to go right off the bat--implying that the Jacks were out of line in thinking of TOB as a 3rd or 4th year starter.

And while I think Stu's got a point at the BCS level (your Denard Robinsons, Tyrelle Pryors, and so on and so forth) at the FCS level, you're just not going to get the kind of talent that can master and then manipulate a collegiate offensive scheme right off the bat.

Maybe TOB will be a great QB (I have my doubts--I think he'll be okay, but not great), but you can't call plays based on the kind of QB you think he'll be two years from now. You have to call plays based on what he's shown he's capable of at this point in time, and right now he's a very rough-edged kid.

Two TDs called back plus an intercepted pass at the goal line. Both TDs could have have been called SDSU's way. The Jacks had shots. It's worth noting that the Jacks never looked or played like they were intimidated. When the Huskers pushed, the Jacks pushed back harder. It was very impressive to watch.

The reason why I mentioned being the devil advocate, is that I did know and Steve Emming mentioned it three or four times, that UN had a four way battle for QB coming out of spring ball. We are not that fortunate right now, TOB is probably our only option, unless we pull the red shirt off of Sumner, and thats not likely.

I sincerely think that with so many new faces and the loss of some key guys like Batten, Jimmy Rogers, there just is a very slow flow of team chemistry prior to the Nebraska game. The Nebraska challenge help so many of our guys pick up where they left off last year or start to acclaimate into being great players.

Seems like Derek Domino has not had a chance at any INTS, but he got one last night. I suspect even though we did not win the game, many of our starters will grade out much higher this week than they have for the prior two weeks. I feel much better about taking on UNI now than after listening to the NDSU VS UNI game a couple of weeks ago.

Well, SDSU had that last year, and it didn't really matter much. You've got a very different talent level in FCS. No one that gets a scholarship at an FCS school should be expected to start as a RS-freshman.

It's a great positive when they can, but you can't expect that.

Agreed, Martinez is a RB by trade but convinced UNL coaching staff that he could play QB. Who knows last night might have been an off night for Taylor.

It would be good to see the video on Domino's interception. What I would question was what impact did Mink's illegal block have on Domino's run into the endzone. Was it close by or did it affect a tackler who would have been able to stop Domino from scoring? If Mink's contact with this individual was 30 or 40 yards away, it should not have been called but then I am not a ref nor pretend to be one.
