WIU up at the half at Denver 31-26.

Pretty much for the Necks' if they want to get out of the cellar.

The race for 8th is tightening up. WIU won at Denver tonight 63-60.

      Saturday Race for 8th Games:

      USD (3-8) @ SDSU (8-3)
      WIU (2-9) @ ORU (4-8)

If the Necks lose in Tulsa, more than likely they wont be making a trip to Sioux Falls.

USD is 4-8 tied with ORU and has beat them twice so has tiebreaker.

I think UMWandSDSU is correct. The Summit League app (which is very handy, works well, and is usually reliable) has not updated the Standings section. It shows USD at 3-8 when they are 4-8 with tonight's win. The app Standings section shows WIU at 1-9 when they are 2-9 with tonight's win (as reported by SanDakotaState). So, seems like WIU remains stuck in the cellar at least through this weekend.

The field appears to be getting divided into three groups now on the men's side.

SDSU, IPFW, and UNO look pretty solid as the top-3, though the order is a long way from settled.

Unless something crazy happens, IUPUI and NDSU set their ceiling as second-tier teams with losses yesterday. IUPUI could easily drop three of their last four, take a look at their schedule - ouch. NDSU still has three road games (including SDSU and Omaha). Even if they miraculously win four out of five, they would still finish with six losses.

Denver and USD will probably fall into the 6/7 slots. They both have an outside shot at creeping up to fifth if they go on an unlikely tear. Both finish with 3 of 4 on the road.

ORU losing the tiebreaker to USD probably set their ceiling at #8. They better not lose to WIU Saturday. March Madness starts a little early in Tulsa/Macomb if that happens.

As far as I'm concerned we are right in the middle of the best time of year for SDSU sports. It's fun to watch it all play out knowing that it all leads to four exciting days in Sioux Falls.

Its down to SDSU, IPFW and UNO. Jacks have to be expected to win at home and no one can expect anything but a win at WIU (flashback to FB). So that means 4 losses and almost certainly a top 2 seed. UNO played the best they will play the rest of the year on Wednesday night. They will lose at least 1 if not 2 or 3 more. That means its FW vs SDSU for the conference title and top seed.

Jacks have to play better D against IPFW than they did in the 2nd half vs UNO. Can get away with lazy D against every other team in the league but not UNO and FW, too high powered offensively. Play defense and a top 2 seed is a lock.

Then, it all about who wants it more in S Falls.

It is interesting that NDSU's Carlin Dupree was the leading scorer for the Bison last night even though he was the fourth man off of the bench for them. While it will take some time to get out of the dog house after quitting the team, they will need his offense at times.

Massey has it playing out like this:

                    SDSU 13-3
                    IPFW 12-4
                    UNO: 11-5
NDSU: 9-7 (Not sure I buy that if P. Miller is out)
                    IUPUI: 8-8
                    ORU: 6-10
                    Denver: 5-11
                    USD: 5-11
                    WIU: 3-13

Depending on a DU/USD tiebreaker, SDSU could potentially face USD in the first round and then NDSU in the second round.

If IPFW and SDSU are tied at the end of the season, IPFW would win the tiebreaker if they can beat Omaha at home.

Gonna be a fun three weeks here leading up to the tournament. A lot can happen yet.

It appears the Summit title for us will hinge on winning at IPFW.

I'd say its a lock if we win at IPFW and still a decent chance even with a loss. I'm not counting out UNO winning in FW or FW losing one of the last 2 on the road.

FW got hammered by a .500 NDSU team. There is definitely a chance that they'll have a slip-up.

The last game of the season when NDSU women play the IPFW women could decide the 9th place. IUPUI 64 NDSU 63. The Bison play Omaha and Denver at home. The Mastodons play ORU, USD, and the Bison at home. Bison seem to have the advantage if they can steal one or two at home.
