Re: Summit League Regular Season Conference
Since I am a bit directionally challenged in the SF Arena, but the side across from the scorer's table I had heard that there was a section in the middle above the rail that was bought by USD fans on the first hours tickets were sold last March. We will see on gameday if that section is red on tournament day. I am across the way this year in Section C. I am in row 7 and I bought within the first half hour of ticket sales. I endorse the idea that the sponsors help bring this event to Sioux Falls and the Jackrabbit, yote , and bison fans have an advantage of travel. I have always bought tickets for this event on the first day available since I enjoy the 4 days of basketball and I do not take the chance of getting tickets somewhere on a game by game basis. I also show my support by buying those tickets so that I might enjoy the tournament rather than see it bid somewhere else regardless of how the team may perform this year. I am sure that the Summit League will consider any bid to host this event. Until another host is ready to match the Sioux Falls bid, I am more than ready to support the current venue. It is no question that the Dakota teams have the home crowd advantage with the potential crowd, but if you take a look at the rest of the conference support; the Dakotas could have that advantage at nearly any location if the team made it to the final. The basketball potential for the bison would yield more fans at a tourney game than Oakland would at a home game as demonstrated at Frisco for the football. I would speculate the Rabbits or yotes would be similar.. This event for the basketball tourney might be considered as the trophy game of the Summit League due to the atendance and the expanded exposure on TV. So when Coach Mo of WIU or the Grizz or even the bison are calling for a rotating venue for the event, what is the lure or bone that the conference will prosper? Will 7000 show up in Chicago, Detroit, Indianaoplis, Omaha, Kansas City, Denver, or Ft Wayne? This is about a strong conference. It is not about having the game rotate to have 2000 home fans come to town. Meanwhile, the ticket problem is a good problem to have!!!
