Plus, I've watched Blow before, so if anything, I'll probably be running the cartels by the end of the trip.
I think its odd that thousands of people are at the border looking to get in and find work and a new way of life, meanwhile US citizens spend hard earned money on luxury trips to Mexico. Seems like Phoenix work for me.

So don't get caught up in the cross fire. Be careful my friend and dont take any wooden nickles.

I plan on staying at the resort, catch up on some reading, and hopefully keep up with the SL Tournament and send as many positive thoughts north as I can.

KELO TV's Don Jorgenson is hosting a 30 minute program on KELO this evening, talking about the Summit League Tourney. Our AD, Justin Sell, together with Mike Sullivan from the Sioux Falls Sports Authority and Teri Ellis of the Sioux Falls Convention and Visitor Bureau are on the show. Sullivan indicated that the League may consider a five-year bid interval and Sioux Falls will go for it! With the new facility coming on board, Sioux Falls will really push to keep the tourney. Justin talked about the potential for other NCAA regional events etc.

Good program. More great publicity for State!

(Forgot to mention: dvr'ing the Jackrabbit Insider...will watch that next.)

You forgot don't drink the water.

I am ready for the tourney for sure. Hope sdsu sweeps it but either way its going to be great getting out of work for a couple days and do nothing but hang out with my dad and watch some quality basketball.

It's strange. I've suddenly found myself rather fond of IPFW.

Interesting Q&A with Kampe. I think he makes some good points about the tournament. However, it is not the same situation as when the tournament was in Tulsa and ORU had their good teams. The rest of the league went nuts and could not move the tournament fast enough.

If SDSU starts dominating the league tournament this year or next year there will be grumbling, but I think Sioux Falls has a good grip on hosting the tournament. The league is very Dakota centric now and there are enough schools to out vote the eastern schools to keep the tournament in Sioux Fallls. There is also the money issue, Tulsa was the only city that has had a somewhat competitive bid in the past and they won't be bidding anymore.

The league does not really care about the women, but just wait until the Jacks men start racking up multiple trips to the tournament. Kampe and the rest of the eastern coaches will start whining big time. I think Kampe sees the writing on the wall and if they could would like to see Oakland move to a more geographical friendly conference.

As much as I would hate to see the tournament leave Sioux Falls, or even the Dakotas, we need to do everythign we can to make sure Oakland, IPFW, and IUPUI stay happy as well. I don't think the league can afford to lose any of those members, as there just isn't quality division 1 schools in the midwest to replace them. While I don't think IPFW or IUPUI have many other options for conference affiliation, Oakland could look very nice to a basketball focused conference further east.

I agree that it is important that Oakland stay at least somewhat "happy" but I think the competitive nature of their team will take care of that. They are one team that I see continuing to be serious title contenders every year. I'm not sure if any of the other schools will have that top-level consistency and may be more up-and-down over the long term.
