Skullsplitter is tasty. If you get a chance try Four Peaks Kilt Lifter, but only on draft. It is a fine beverage.

Brau Brothers on the other hand largely makes bad hop water IMHO.

I agree with this assessment. I haven't liked any of their beers really.

Had a decent beer last night - Winter Tilt from Empyrean Brewing out of Lincoln, NE. I wouldn't say it blew my socks off, but not bad either.

Try Luckey Bucket Certified Evil also out of NE. That might at least roll those socks down

Try Third Stone Brown from Empyrean. I don't care for Brau Brothers either. I'm relatively new to the whole beer snob arena so my assessments may be way off.

My wife just walked in with two six packs that are new to me. Goose Island "Mild Winter" and New Belgium "Snow Day". It's a little early, but there is football on TV and snow falling outside so what the heck.

Both are mild dark ales and good. Snow Day has a bit more complexity and a significant hop flavor while Mild Winter is well, milder with more spice notes. These set off the two different styles west and east of the Mississippi.

Agree on the Third Stone, mild ale, excellent ice cold on a warm summer day.

Had 90 Schilling for the first time tonight, enjoyed it. My next Odell beer will probably be Levity.

90 schilling is probably their best beer, IMO. but I like all O'dell brews.

Odell makes some fine beers. Levity is more of a summer brew. Try their winter brew, Isolation Ale. Or for a real treat try Mountain Standard Mahogany Red, that is very nice.

My wife came home with a six pack of "randomly" selected beers. Three were from Lakefront Brewery. I liked their Fixed Axel (American red ale) the best. I was hoping to pull out something from O'dell, everyone seems to like what they have had. The other two I hadn't had are Summit's Finnegans Irish Amber and Great River Brewery Pale Ale (in a can). Anybody have an opinion on the last two?
