Gotta give a shoutout to Cornell for their convincing win over Temple today. Good job Big Red.
A great win for a team, and a conference, that haven't had any success against teams in the tournament. Love to see the cinderellas step it up. Although, I gotta give a bit more dap to Murray State and Ohio. Anytime you can beat a team from one othe major conferences (and knocking a Big East Team to makes it even better).
Considering everything from margin of victory to strength of opponent I would say that Cornell was more impressive. They had roughly a 20 point lead with under 10 minutes to go and were never in any real danger whereas Murray State obviously had the buzzer beater. I am not hyping up Cornell just because USD played them but it's fun to see non major conference teams do well. How about Ohio, Warren Swain our play by play guy and Jackie Hibbert a bench player on the Lady Yotes both came from Ohio before coming to USD. I know Jacks fans like to follow teams they played as well. Off the top of my head SDSU played Purdue and Oakland whereas USD played Cornell, Marquette and Kansas State from the teams that are in the tourney.
what game will the coyote fans use now, to try to justify their men being a good team? the one game they always used was their 6 point loss to an almost ranked cornell team who gave kansas a good game. cornell got beat by 15 points to penn last night. that was penns 4th win. their only non conference win was against a 3 win team. cornell is no better than the top 8 teams in the summit.
Great post.

Actually, yeah, you are. Your first post after the game today was on Cornell.
Cornell beat a very good mid-major program in Temple. Congrats to them. I assume that the victory will help the fanbase get over the fact that they were obviously outclasses and outplayed earlier in the year in Verm.
Ah the good old score comp. "logic" from our buddies in Vermtown. USD lost to Cornell but the game was closer then expected and Cornell is good so thus USD is good.
Of course then I have to ask what about Wyoming?
SDSU @ Wyoming - SDSU 77 - Wyoming 61
USD @ Wyoming - Wyoming 86 - USD 74
Using USD logic I guess we know that SDSU is better then USD and SDSU is good because Cornell won a game in the Dance and USD played Cornell close. Is that how your system works?
Tyler Sorenson lost to a Cornell guy by 8 points. Does that mean the Coyote basketball team is only two points better than Tyler Sorenson is by himself?
I get so confused when all these score comparisons start.

True, but you still had the 338 most difficult schedule out of 347. Only 9 schools had easier schedules then USD. SDSU's was 250, so lets not pretend that USD's steady diet of cupcakes compares to SDSU's schedule.

I, for one, was very upset when the yotes didn't get any votes in the poll for the "horseshoe" they threw against Cornell. (You know, as is getting close is a really good strategy in horseshoes.)

When you lose to K. State, Cornell and Marquette and your SOS is still rock bottom, you know you played a lot of cupcakes, there isn't anyway around that fact. USD "king of the cupcakes!!", that has a nice ring to it.
