You would like to make all the opponents of the D1 spend some time in front of the Campanile in a pillory on Hobo Day, but that would be putting Plymouth Rock colony justice to work. I guess we all have the right to take the wrong side on an issue and when its over you just move on. In case the Pillory was not included in your fourth grade History lesson plans here is Wikiepedia:

PS -- I suspect we'll hear fewer demands for a SDSU-USD football game for awhile, given the deteriorating status of the Coyote football program.
Jacked_Up, the post you make plays well and into the hands of many SDSU fans on here, but you are not on target whatsoever. First of all, there is no obsession whatsoever to play the Jacks. That's a fact. You may think there is, but I am extremely close to the program, and other than Ed popping off about the open date, there isn't any discussion at all. I assure you of that.

Regarding measuring up to SDSU, there are two ways to regard it. One is fans like Coyote Fan to completely freak out and lambast our program because SDSU is ahread of USD. SDSU should be ahead of USD, and that's a fact. And you are. I have congrtaulated your team, coaches and fan base repeatedly. Their accomplishments are outstanding. But then you slip in and make the comment about "deteriorating" program, you are off the mark there. We did lose a game we shouldn't have Saturday, I admit that. And the prior two we lost in overtime to (2) very good football teams. That is not a team that is deteriorating, that is a team that is very very close but doesn't know quite how to win yet. I could go back and point out games SDSU had in transition that were embarrassing also, but it is pointless. Like I said on our board, how do you explain UND getting beat by Sioux Falls College, then pounding Cal-Poly ( ateam that beat you). That is the game of football. Sometimes it bounces your way, sometimes it doesn't.

In closing, I have made alot of friends on here, and SDSU in my opinion has some great fans. But there are a few that have such a poisoned position on USD, that to me would be hard to ever have a NORMAL renewed rivalry. Many of you make reference to USD attemting to block SDSU's move to D-I, and although I am not aware of it, there must be some truth to it or it would die. But to those that keep posting that, get over it. If we play each other, and we will in our new league when the time is up, if both sides want to have a healthy but decent and clean rivalry, then the crap that you post, and some USD fans post has to stop.

If there is a USD fan that doesn't respect what SDSU has done thus far, then they have their heads up their a$$e$$ as well. I commend you for the accomplishments. Maybe we'll get there, maybe we won't, but either way we are going to try. But there are a few of you on this board that post venomous and classless things about USD, that if the rivalry does renew, you are every bit as guilty as fueling the fire as drunk USD students, or whomever offended some of you in the past. Let's get to the point where the level of respect is there for both schools from each side, then I think we can talk about renewing what could become a very competitive yet clean rivalry.

Again, good luck from here on out.

yoteforever: Bill Murray ("Stripes", 1981) recommends always following "That's a fact" with "Jack", particularly on the Jack's fan message board.

YoteForever, check the USD Wikipedia entry, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_South_Dakota at Athletics.

The entry calls for a much anticipated renewal of a rivalry with SDSU. Not something you see in the SDSU wikipedia. Perhaps you may want to restate "no obssession whatsoever?"

That reminds me of the time I looked up the actor John Goodman on wikipedia and his profile picture being that of a cow grazing and the caption under it stating "John Goodman tearing up a karaoke bar!"

I don't know about USD D-I football.... I have always had respect for Ed but I think he just doesn't understand D-I football....

                  1. your kicker shouldn't be your WR
                  2. your prized recruit (Will Powell)- don't pull his red-shirt midway through, and in D-I you don't play both ways.... (you just don't)
                  3. recruiting- just because the guy is from Florida doesn't mean he is going to be the save all of all save alls....

If you want to be successful here is what you do
                  1. Redshirt pretty much everyone, everyone if possible
                  2. develop special teams, if you have a good PK and P you will win close games instead of lose them
                  3. recruit program kids; just because a recruit is good doesn't mean he will fit in well.... it seems like USD thinks that they have to recruit Florida and California to be good...

Actually, some of that is true. Tebow and Bin Laden were roommates, i believe.

About SDSU playing USD- SDSU is bussing on more trips because of the budget, now. Regardless of what you think of USD, it makes more sense to play a team that's 2 hours away over a team that's 10 hours away. I guess I don't know if USD would be the "middle" or the "easy" game on the schedule but that's something to figure out. You could play UND because of them same reason. I don't care one way or the other but it does make more sense to play USD over Cal Poly because of cost, odds of winning, travel time, etc... I would say easier for fans to get to but the dome doesn't hold that many people.

I guess this is more about USD but I see a lot of people wanting to fire Ed. I don't know if he needs to be but SDSU stuck with Nagy through his rough years and now they should be in the top 4 of the league(most years).

I guess this isn't smack but I'll do better next time.

I would agree with your comments about bus travel, and I believe we have played our last west coast game for some time into the future. Other than Delware, I think we will be staying closer home. Yes once UND and USD are past the five year mark, they will be more than worthy opponents to have on the schedule and both would draw good crowds.

Also firing Ed is crazy talk. Its hot air just as the Nagy talk was. Yes I was at times linked to that talk and I regret anything I might have said. If you make coaching changes in a transition period, you take the program back to square one and then you need 5 more years maybe to get to square two. Coaching changes should be made for good reasons and for cause just as they would be made for any occupation.

That's highway robbery. $15 bucks a T-Shirt. I think we sold them for like $12 at the highest price of any of the shirts we sold. I did wear one that has the same general theme just the other day actually. Its a little worn, but still one of my favorites.

While I believe many at USD feel as you do, until the stuffed coyote with a jackrabbit in its mouth is removed from the training room, as far as I am concerned there is entirely too much focus on SDSU in Vermillion.
