Re: A kinder, gentler Scott Nagy?

I kinda think Nagy carries the 'WE GOTTA FEEL LOVED THING " a little too far....that's the kinder Nagy Zim's referring too, isn't it?

Scott is a good guy and most of his yelling, as MontanaJack said, is direct at certain players who are not preforming to his standards.

Just the opposite goon. She's firey and entertaining on the sideline. Love watching her.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Augie fans are perfectly fine with Coach Billeter at the moment. You guys stick with Nagy and we'll keep Billeter. Deal? Great.

On a side note, I'm pretty sure a guy not being a fan of a coach's traits/tendencies doesn't mean by necessity that he's not a fan of the school/program. If that were the case, I know several thousand Nebraska fans who weren't actually Nebraska fans throughout Pelini's tenure. Of course, it's possible I'm incorrectly assuming you were serious and you'll let me know you were just joking, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Re: A kinder, gentler Scott Nagy?

I think the key to any coach... is what the players and former players think of them.

Nagy is beloved by them. I don't care if his public persona is "cranky".

One of the keys to be a good leader is being yourself. Players can smell 'phony' personality a mile away.

I knew a guy (many years back) whose son was good enough to be a bb recruit. He and his son went and visited Nagy, and he came back and talked to me about it, and was just pissed at Nagy's view of his son (basically didn't tell him he'd be a star at that level or anything he wanted to hear). So, the boys signs at the U. 2 years at the U (sitting on the bench, and not playing), the boy transferred to a smaller NAIA school and did well.

Now, Nagy was supposedly "a prick" in the meeting, but he was just being honest. And, it turns out correct. I'd rather have that guy, than a guy promising huge minutes and telling every kid he was going to be a star.

As far as his treatment of the refs? Non-issue. There are many who whine and argue way more, and there are many who whine and argue way less. It's part of the job.

I lived in NE for just over a year when Bo was coach, seemed to me he was universally loved by the majority of Husker fans. They liked his brash personality, the school did not.

Of course you are fine with a whining Beliter. We don't need him or his whining. We sure miss those thrown carrots and technical fouls which help out with the final score. I remember one time Coach Nagy said that he felt sorry for Augie Coach Perry Ford and that they could not control those high priced Augstana Advantaged students who threw the carrots.

Sorry. I didn't realize this was the literal board. I should've said, "I know of several thousand..." or "It seems there must've been several thousand..."

I can assure you, I'm ok not actually knowing several thousand Nebraska fans. The handful I do know are plenty.

Fair enough. I was mostly going with what the Nebraska fans in my Facebook feed would comment on each week. I suppose I should've/could've used another example. I was mostly just trying to illustrate my point. Apparently I failed. Didn't mean to turn this thread into a discussion about Nebraska football. Sorry thread moderators.

On a side note, if you miss 'em so much, I sure wish you guys would put Augie on the schedule instead of several of the worst D2 programs in the region (in non-exhibition games, no less). Would make for a slightly more entertaining game, I'd imagine.

My understanding is that the last time we played you guys at home, it wasn't a carrot but a dead rabbit that slid up to the free throw line and caused whichever kid was shooting free throws to scamper away with a shriek. Maybe I'm remembering the wrong game though.

Wow look what I started. Jack fans are the most ultra-sensitive fan base in this state. You all need to relax and quit taking everything so personal. For the record I think he's a good man and a good coach. If I remember correctly he has mentioned in interviews that his wife has even told him to quit being so damn negative and whiny. That doesn't mean he's a bad coach or a bad person. He's like a little kid that is pissy because mom and daddy just told him to finish his vegetables before dessert.

I've spent 10 hours on 2 different occasions on the golf course with Coach Billeter and let's just say...I'll never get those hours back...and it wasn't just because he was literally the worst golfer I've ever played with. And I've played a lot of golf.
