Or since I wrote the above to defend Stu is everyone going to jump to conclusions and say that I hate Make-A-Wish and sick kids too?

As my daughter would say (I mean sing) "Let it Go". There are far worse things going on this country and the world to get worked up about.
I'm not worked up about it. To be honest it really doesn't bother me.

But I can see that his subsequent tweets are tasteless and make his apology seem less genuine (even if he was trying to make lite of the situation). If you can't see that, I can't help you.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, I just disagree with it. I'm sorry you can't help me see that his follow up tweets are tasteless - probably because they aren't.

If his follow up tweets aren't tasteless, how would you describe them?

          Self-deprecating.

I'll check out of here before I get myself in more trouble. I just think a lot of folks are being overly critical of him.

I guess I could. I don't have twitter or facebook. Unless you count post on fans sites then guilty as charged. Its not like this is stus first time saying something dumb.

Who is this "Stu Whitney" this thread refers to? Never heard of him. He is somehow important to SDSU?

I'm with you. I had no idea what the even was about, and read his follow up tweets as self deprecating.

Me too, and appreciating what TK said. JimmyJack has stated many times that Stu loves to stir the pot. Btw I would give TK rep points but have to spread them around.

That dude's First Amendment right wasn't violated either when the TV network canned him. Or didn't can him because they brought him back, or whatever. I didn't follow that too closely.

That's just a rough overview, there are a lot of other elements that could affect an analysis of the situation, such as whether he is an at-will employee or has a contract and whether his conduct violates the contract, for example, but the First Amendment isn't one of them.

Just want to clear up any misconceptions about the First Amendment. This hasn't been legal advice for any of you reading this.

Stu did make a mistake and he has apologized. He should probably just stay off twitter for a bit, for his own sake.
While what you write is true, newspapers punishing their reporters for what they write seems like a pretty bad thing to my uneducated mind. If you encourage your reporters to bypass editorial processes by posting on Twitter (i'm sure the AL does), you are going to have a certain amount of this kind of thing happen.

I live in SF, and had no idea this event was going on or what cause they were supporting. Now here I am days later posting about it. People are writing letters and blogging about it. Honestly, this is the best thing that could have happened for HHN.

Maybe he should self-deprecate himself for not knowing enough about the community he serves as an editor for the largest newspaper in the state of SD.If he doesn't take an interest enough to educate himself, then he is a marginal employee at best for the important position he holds. This from an employers perspective.

Im no fan of Stu, but maybe HHN should let the community know more about the event and that is raises money. I had no clue, and by the looks of it the majority of the community didnt either. He didnt know and apologized. Stop riding the man.

I agree with SF Rabbit Fan, this is probably the best publicity for HHN (at Stu's expense)
