  • Fired Coaches

Rather then create a new thread for all coaches who have been fired I figured just make one big one

University of Buffalo has fired head coach Reggie Witherspoon. SDSU is expected to play them next year as the return game of the Bracketbuster game of last year

Kind of surprising he had been there 14 years and had taken them to 4 post seasons, however never a NCAA

Ball State Fire head coach Billy Taylor who ironically lost to Buffalo

Do not forget Matt who will not be the WAC next year.

I'm guessing he will not be in coaching, at any level. He's not even good enough to be an ESPN analyst.

Mastodons may have a place for Matt!

I don't hate IPFW enough to wish Matt Brown upon them.

Northwestern coach Bill Carmody...... gone....... http://espn.go.com/chicago/mens-coll...dy-sources-say

Sounds like Duke assistant Chris Collins is the favorite for this position.

UT-PA's coach is gone, surprising as he had a 16-16 season, in his 3rd season

His best chance for employment is insurance perhaps? How about Farmers Insurance. " Moving on...."

A candidate to watch for a coaching job is Bob Knight, it doesn't take a genius to see that he is on his way out at ESPN, its been rumored that he inquired about a few jobs last year. If Northwestern wasn't Northwestern I'd say he'd be the perfect candidate for the job. I just don't see a prestigious University like Northwestern taking a flier on anyone yet someone as controversial as Bob Knight. Though it is Northwestern basketball, and being nothing better then mediocre for a really long time makes you do rash things sometimes.

If any AD seriously considers hiring Bob Knight they should have their head examined. Not because of his antics in the past , but because he will be 73 years old and it's obvious if you listen to him on ESPN that his mental sharpness is starting to go in the wrong direction. There is a reason ESPN continues to shift him away from announcing important games and is supposedly going to cut ties altogether. Knight in his prime was as good as any coach around , but he is definitely no longer that coach.

I will be 72 in July and I dont have a lot options out there for returning to the work force. I would think that Bobby is not looking to get back in the pressure cooker. Maybe a job like Gary Garner at DSU, but no big jobs for BK. Who knows? I do not have a clue.

Bob Knight is still trying to figure out what exactly the shot clock is and probably has nightmares about the 3pt line. Don't know if he would be the right guy for the job. That said he was awesome in his prime and I just started reading his book

I too wonder, with so many young candidates who are more intuned to the game and its changes, picking an old guy might not be the best choice. Whats the title of his book? Will download it on my nook.
