Had to read that article about 3 times to draw a conclusion...still not sure what to think. Having a video of your kids dancing around wiggling their buttocks, meh, not sure that is really that big of a deal.


BUT....the fondling part...why on earth would you allow that or record it???

Without seeing them IDK, but after my mom passed away this past spring I went through a bunch of my home videos and home pictures and found that my parents took plenty of "questionable" photos and video of myself, brother and sister. So I really don't know.

Thought the same thing,the fondling part is the real eye catcher. I really hope there is reasonable explanation, the alternative is too disturbing.

Good grief.

In re-reading the article, Hoffner's attorney says the vidoes are not pornographic. My use of the word lewd, may prove to be wrong. We have to have the justice system sort this one out.

If the kids are a year or two old that's one thing,but if they are approaching 10 you are crossing the line.

Time will tell. Speculation doesn't benefit anyone in this situation. I will say this, if he wasn't sharing these things with anyone other than his family and if they knew he was taping them I'm not really sure anyone has been harmed here. I assume there has been some preliminary investigation suggesting that this was done maliciously and with pornographic intent.

I do not know what the Minnesota state policy is about using state issued property, but if its anything like the fed its a real NO-NO and could get you fired. I think any videoing of family would be done with your own equipment. Its just me who had to abide by the fed policy for 20 years. The coach's lawyer seems to have some valid arguements and is speaking out which may help the coach down the road. My sense tells me the coach is in trouble.

Wow. This is a bizzare situation, at least from a distance.

My guess is most everyone on this board has had their parents take "questionable" photos of them when they were babies. How many had their parents take photos of you in the bath tub when you were little? I know mine did. Is that child pornography? Hardly. If my parents would have had easy access to video recorders when I was little, there might very well be some videos as well.

Now if the kids were fondling themselves that could be a different story. However, it's impossible to draw a conclusion from the article.

Sadly, whether the coach is innocent or guilty, the damage to him and his reputation is likely done.

There is nothing wrong with and its actually quite healthy to have your children be comfortable with their bodies. Asking them to expose themselves or perform sexual acts is a totally different situation naked or clothed. If the kids were involved in spontaneous activities while naked and one of them happened to slap their own bottom there is no harm. Its got to come down to intent. The issue regarding the use of university owned equipment for personal use is a totally different topic. I think the coach may be getting a bit of a bum wrap, again, time will tell.

That's the million dollar question....was there intent to portray this as sexual.

It's gonna be sad if it was harmless because his name has already been tarnished.

I'm sorry,but I just can't buy into that. There is no legitimate reason to film your nine year old daughter dancing around naked and bending over and exposing herself,and waking her up at night to go to the bathroom and filming her rear end while walking to the bathroom. Even if no one else saw the video,he's still a creeper in my book.
