looking for info on 11AAA and their future scheduling. aren't the sioux falls schools dropping Rapid City from the schedule very soon? I know they are expecting a couple of the area schools to grow enough to add them to a "metro conference", which would probably be a few years down the road. I believe the ESD stated they would help Rapid City out with their scheduling? Also, are the Sioux Falls schools looking to adding games from the Sioux City schools again? thanks for any info on the latest.

Re: little help with SD hs football please...
The Sioux Falls schools already have the Metro Conference, and the ESD added the Rapid City schools as "Football Only" members. As for scheduling, as far as I know, the State still scheduling Rapid City versus Sioux Falls schools, but maybe not nearly as frequently.I am Ed. Fear me.

Re: little help with SD hs football please...
The Greater Dakota Conference, which included the 4 SF schools, 2 RC schools, Sturgis and Spearfish has already disbanded. I believe there is already a new Metro Conference which includes the 4 SF schools and Brandon Valley. I would assume Harrisburg will be added to that someday. Starting next year there will be an 11 team ESD with 2 divisons. One divison with the 2 RC schools, Watertown, Aberdeen and Brandon Valley(all 11AAA schools) and a divison with Yankton, Mitchell, Pierre, Huron, Harrisburg and Brookings. Im assuming the the SF schools with still play SD teams. Hadnt heard anything about them playing the SC schools again.

Re: little help with SD hs football please...
i was trying to find the article that i read, at least a year ago, maybe two (time seems to go faster the older you get). i am sure it stated that the sioux falls district will be notifying the RC schools that they would no longer be scheduling them (as far as football). that is why the RC schools turned to the ESD for help. maybe the discussion about adding some games with the SC schools was just that---talk. anyway, thanks for the replies!

I was a little too young to recall the dismantling of the SIC conference, but I think it had something to do with the SDHSAA demanding that the SF schools schedule RC schools. So instead of having a fantastic rivalry with the Sioux City Schools, the RC schools had to travel up to 6 hours to come to SF (and SF to RC) to get destroyed every year.
Open enrollment helped SF Public schools, but what really made them turn the corner was the decision to finally commit to football with a full offseason weight lifting/training regimen, which OG had been doing for years.
I know its not the fault of the kids as they play when and where the SDHSAA tells them to, but I think that every 11AA championship since the inception of 11AAA should have an asterisk by it. What a joke. The 11AA trophy is nothing but a participation trophy, just like it is for the ESD crowning 2 champions moving forward.

The Pierre team that won the first 11AA title the year 11AAA was introduced was really, really good. I always wanted them and Lincoln, who won the 11AAA that year to play a game.

OG blamed WHS for recruiting kids through open enrollment when a lot apparently where in the RHS transfered to WHS when Hermanson was named the head coach. I know when I was in high school there were kids who werent getting much playing time or were on really good teams that transfered to other public schools so they could have more playing time or actually play, because back then, Lincoln was pretty bad in every sport except tennis.
