Yep, it didnt benefit the city as well as it could have. I am not the only one the think so. Not just my opinion. It was good but not the best option. Thats the point I think I and others are trying to make. The current site could be a good plan, but its not the best plan.

I think it has served it purpose and has paid for itself many times over. I frankly am not all into the development talk; right or wrong? It is probably wrong. I simply have no interest. I just want to attend events at a place that has the ammenities that one should have. I will vote for one no matter the site. I honestly feel it isn't go to pass and I honestly don't think it then will pass for a very long time. Then Sioux Falls will have lost out, IMO.

To be honest, I actually do think it will pass if the group that does support building it now can get the voters to turn out.

I believe the statements to which goon referred were made in regards to the convention center and the decision to build at that location.

I don't mind that we disagree. I just don't appreciate being called a whiner or being accused of throwing a temper tantrum because I don't agree with the current proposal. Its not even about downtown, well not totally. I stated in my previous post that if the mayor had developed actual concrete plans for development of that area, I would support that. We don't have that with the current plan. That's my biggest beef.

EDIT: And I'm not saying that you have called those who don't support the current proposal whiners. Sorry if that's the way it reads, not my intention.

I respect 99% of everyone's opinion on this heated topic. There has been a small few (I can count them on one hand) from the BID group that have come across as "taking their ball and going home". It sometimes comes across as very childish.

I also totally agree with you. I also don't like all of Mayor Mike's plans. He has been pretty wishy, washy on certain things (development, tenants, the so-called big events, etc.).

That's fair, and the reason it angers me when others paint with such a broad brush saying everyone who supported building downtown has now taken their ball and gone home like whiners.

If it doesn't get built now, I hope it never gets built. You get what you deserve.
