SDSU men drop match to Phoenix
ST. PETER, Minn. — The South Dakota State University men’s tennis team opened competition Friday night at the Gustavus Adolphus tournament in St. Peter, Minn.
The Jacks fell to Wisconsin-Green Bay 7-0 at the Swanson Tennis Center.
Zac Lunak and Brian Hylle opened the tournament falling to Mat Weiss and Tim Prudlow 8-3 in doubles action. Dusty Antoine and Matt Gill looked to put the Jacks on the board in No. 3 doubles, but fell to Scott Dickert and Mark Goldin 8-3.
In singles action, Antoine, a Luverne, Minn., native, fell to Eric Hines at the No. 4 singles spot. The freshman lost 6-1 in the first set and was upended 7-5 in the second.
The loss moved the Jacks to 1-6 on the spring season and marked the fifth straight duel SDSU has failed to win a match on its opponent.
The Jacks will continue action at the Gustavus Adolphus tournament today with a 1 p.m. match against host school Gustavus. South Dakota State will take on Duquense (Pa.) tonight. Start time for the match is set for 6:30 p.m.
