Local SDSU Alums Get Chance To Meet New President

During a visit to the family farm near Elk Point, David Chicoine truly proved he was out standing in his field.
The University of Illinois administrator was home visiting two years ago when his younger brother, Brian, was fixing a flat tire in the middle of a cornfield.
"It must have been 120 degrees in the shade, humid and we were sweating like crazy," Brian said. "David offered to help fix the flat. I asked him, are you sure you want to do this? And he said, sure."
Brian said the story reflects the hard work his elder brother has shown his entire life.
"David isn't afraid to get out and get dirty. He'll roll up his sleeves and jump in," Brian said. "David will do whatever needs to be done."
David said he is using that same elbow grease to get things done as the new president of South Dakota State University in Brookings. "You show up for work every day," he said. (read more)
