    Let’s get the convo started!

Do we get the seed over all the NDSU wrestlers other than Franek? Other than Sloan and Carlson can we get anyone else in the finals?
How many do we qualify for nationals?

This seems to be the healthiest team we have had in recent history.

Allocations out this week so we'll know a lot more by then about potential national qualifiers

So I lead a very boring life in the winter and I actually went through and put together projected seeds for the conference. The last seeding criteria that I could find was from 2019 which listed head-to-head wins as the first criteria followed by coaches poll rankings, quality wins, common opponents and RPI rankings. If this changed, it's probably going to be off. I'm also assuming that they seed to eight like they did last year. Here's what I came up with for the Jacks specifically. I also made a guess as to how many qualifiers would be allocated guessing that they would stick with 26-27 allocated qualifiers and 6-7 at-large bids.

      125: Jordan unseeded (7 allocations)
      133: Tagg 3rd (6 allocations)
      141: Carlson 1st (6 allocations)
      149: Kimball 8th (3 allocations)
      157: O'Neil unseeded (5 allocations)
      165: Cook 6th (5 allocations)
      174: Devos 2nd (7 allocations)
      184: King 5th (5 allocations)
      197: Sloan 3rd (6 allocations)
      285: Nevills 2nd (7 allocations)

I think that Carlson, Devos, and Sloan have done enough in the regular season to where they could go 0-2 at conference and still get at large bids. I don't think that this applies to Tagg or Nevills, but their seeds should make them pretty safe bets to qualify and they stand a pretty good chance of getting at-large bids even if they don't qualify at the tournament. Depending on how the conference tournaments shake out, it's possible that King or Cook could get at-large bids, but they are also in a good place to qualify based on placing. Jordan, Kimball, and O'Neil would have to wrestle beyond what most believe their abilities are, but anything could happen. At this point, I want to guess that they qualify six, but I predicted seven at the beginning of the year so I'm going to stick with that.

            Here's my chart for 285:
            285 (7)
            Seed Weight School
            1 Wyatt Hendrickson AF
            2 AJ Nevills SDS
            3 Zach Elam UM
            4 Sam Schuyler ISU
            5 Michael Wolfgram WVU
            6 Brandon Metz NDS
            7 Luke Surber OSU
            8 Josh Heindselman OU
            9 Jacob Seeley UNC
            10 Carter Isley UNI
            11 Jaden Woodruff UV
            12 Terron Swartz WY
His big conference wins were Metz, Elam, and Wolfgram, his losses to Surber and Metz could knock him down to four, but I had a hard time putting him below Elam with the head to head win.

It the coaches rankings and RPI hold, Jordan, Kimball, O'Neil, Cook and King will not be eligible for at-large bids. If they don't qualify at Big 12s, they won't be going to nationals. I think this is bad news for the Jacks as King and Cook have a little more work to do than I had originally thought.

EDIT: I miss-read the qualification guidelines, finishing one spot shy of qualifying and having a win over an NQ are also factors.

What an absolute joke that Ian Parker got the one seed over Carlson. How did they allow that? I guess it gets him away from Hart but how did it not go Carlson alirez hart Parker?

I don't mind Cook's seed. He's pinned Yant before, he can beat him again. I don't like the matchup with Hall but hopefully he can win a match on the back side. King is going to have a pretty hard road at 184. He'll have Geer in the quarters and he gave up a major to him not too long ago. You have to feel good about the other five seeded wrestlers. Tagg just has to beat Drury in the quarters to qualify and Nevills just has to beat Wolfgram again. Carlson, Devos and Sloan will qualify almost no matter what.
