    Re: Rnd 1: Oklahoma GDT

OK is a decent team, but I was not very impressed with them. i think UALR will give them a tough game. Our girls were a little rusty and it showed, but they hung in there and made it a game. Same story: too many turnovers and not enough points in the paint on fairly easy shots. Easy for me to say, but best of luck to the seniors. And next season will be fun too as the young Jacks will be even better I believe.

That's what I thought, too. They could have called it on every possession.

AJ has said that he is more concerned with the turnover magin difference than he is with the total turnover number. Being only -5, while still not somethign a team aims for, is much better than what they were doing earlier in the year.

Overall I was impressed with the Jacks against a somewhat bigger, and faster, OU team. I think that games like this one are a great measuring stick on where this team is headed.

Kudos to the ladies for being able to do something (zone defense) that some have never had play. Makes me wonder if the coaching staff was preparing for the switch all week. I also wonder if the Jacks will go to it more against dynamic guards.

Great season ladies...bring on next year. I think that, after watching this game, that Rotert is going to be a monster next year...

I don't believe it is a violation as long as you are dribbling the ball through out. In other words, while dribbling you can take zero, one, two, or more steps between each bounce of the ball. Maybe that's not what you are talking about. On one possession, she lost control of the dribble when it her hands on the way up, and they ruled it a violation because it was a pass to herself. I think the key was that it hit both hands coming up. Maybe that isn't the one you are talking about.

...On a side note, it was OK's lowest home attendance of the year. 5600 or something like that. Can't figure that one out...

I am sure that the lack of a "name" opponent kept some away as well...

I thought Dietal had a great game and showed a lot of bounce and energy. Not one of Ketty's better games. I thought OU's athleticism affected her the most in terms of her being able to get shots and matching up on the defensive end.

OU did a great job of forcing Ketty to the baseline on her drives and not giving her much space to create a shot.

Didn't seem like the Jackrabbits ran a whole lot of ball screens to free up shooters. I wonder if the team speed of the Sooners and their ability to switch had something to do with that.

Is it too early to get all amped up about next yr? Losing seniors will hurt like it alway's does,it took us a little longer this season to get things together after losig Jenn, Stacy, and Morgan ,but we did.Next yr our frosh will be veterans.Dietel looked real good, plus we'll be adding our highest rated recruit ever.Plus returning a real good group of upper classmen.Someone said Rotert will be a beast,Jill's shooting is alway's a threat to the opposition, did i mention Sunnorborg, she'll be a very good post, she did some good things in the tournement also.Plus adding another Boever to the line up ,provided her injury heals, and adding another player similar to Dietel, that being Strop.I just can't help but think we'll be a pretty darned good team again next season.Have to edit in Macie, she's improved every yr,a vital member of the team, hope i didn't fail to mention anyone either directly or by group, everyones important & each adds thier unique skills to the team.

                        Nope not to soon.

I think with Macie, Kristin and Jill we are still going to very experienced front court and we are only going to get stronger inside. Future looks very good. I kind of feel like this season turned into a rebuilding year for us... which is very encouraging. Also, this team won a lot of people over to SDSU. They represented AWESOME.

I don't think its too early. We are still loaded with talent and adding some nice pieces with the three new recruits. I expect Waytashek to make an immediate impact. Don't forget we still have a scholarship to offer if we want to use it in 2010 or save it for 2011.

Even though you haven't seen it on the women's team, I do think they might look for a JUCO post transfer, just to get some more experience down low. Most of our post players are pretty young.

Congratulations Jackrabbits and fans on a very successful season. How on earth your team was given a 14 seed in this tournament is beyond me. If Ga. Tech was given a 6 and Ark. Little Rock an 11, then you guys should have been given no worse than a 5 in my humble opinion.

I watched the Tech/Little Rock game live at the Loyd Noble before our game against the Jacks, and believe me the Jackrabbits were far and above a better team than either one of those two.

A great game between two excellent basketball programs. Glad South Dakota State University got the national recognition they so richley deserve. Your fans, Coach, and team left a great impression with me and I will be following them in the future from Oklahoma. The adjustments the Jacks made at half time were impressive. Always fun to watch a solid fundamentally sound basketball team like the Jackrabbits.

Good luck in the future and will enjoy your many trips to the NCAA tournament. Looks like it will be an annual event for your team and fans.

I, for one, will be cheering for Oklahoma for the rest of the tournament, that is for sure.
