    Re: Usd

What made the game a 19-point win instead of 30 is USD's ponderous, isolation offense that eats the entire shot clock every single time down the floor. AJ mentioned it in the postgame. SDSU was 15 or so possessions short of what we usually get. We hit a couple more threes, and it's a total blowout by five minutes into the second half.

How about USD playing defense with 20 seconds left, down 19? And at the end they got a couple of shoves in on Paluch. You stay classy, USD.
    Holy nutmeg!

      Re: Usd

I think our student body did a great job tonight! I was extremely embarrased for USD when their students ended the National Anthem with "home of the coyotes" and then preceded to do their cheer before the colors were removed. Just a dumb dumb group of fans.
Back to the game, I agree with everyone on here that if not for an off shooting night this game is a REAL BIG blow out.

Filbert.... Because you have called the students out repeatedly this year I am calling you out. You stood up maybe three times during big moments tonight... Where the H*ll were you?

Yup, the students were great. I'd prefer they didn't get into it with the USD fans like they did at the end (chanting and singing while OUR team was shooting free throws) but that's a minor quibble. They were into it, didn't get personal at all. And I was glad not to hear any "screw the u's" the entire night (even as USD did the "hate state").

Well done, students. Now come back for IUPUI and WIU in a couple of weeks.
        Holy nutmeg!

Even with that hotch potch group alliance called the Great West Conference, I think SDSU was giving USD a helping hand, by scheduling this game after January one. As we recall from our transition, after conference play begans for legit D1 conferences, its hard to get any games period. USD is lucky to have these independants to work with. I do wish USD the best. I suspect they will be a very good conference foe come 2011-12.

            Re: Usd

I choosing to think we make about 5 more of those open 3's in the first half against any other conference foe on a normal night.

But...playing like we did tonight...we lose to ORU in SF by 10 if not 15 points, and we will lose to both Oakland and IPFW this weekend. Gotta play better than this.

Played good defense, but IMO it had more to do with the fact that USD has about 1 1/2 athletic players on their team right now. Will they recruit more...I guess we'll see...NDSU thought they would've by now I'm sure.

Now back to trying to win this conference race. I apologize for the negativity...just wasn't that impressed, considering how they ladies have been playing as of late.

            Go Jacks!!

Exactly. Thats a pretty common tactic for an inferior team that is just concerned about getting blown out. Milk the shot clock, shorten up the game. Just let your team play, for goodness sake.

As a biased observer, I'd say the USD students were better than the NDSU fans.

Can you imagine a USD-NDSU game? Would hate to the be broadcast team for that one...

The USD fans were good. The conference won't like the "hate state" stuff, though. But generally, USD fans did a nice job of supporting their team. And, to be fair, our students goaded them into the "hate state" chant with the "Why so quiet?" chant.

All in all, it was a good atmosphere... fewer stupid shenanigans than I expected.

                      NDSU hardly had any fans.

Jacks over the Yotes by 19. About what most people would have imagined. Yotes slowed it down, Jacks played poorly in the first half.

Bottom line: Different year, same results and now you know the rest of the story.

A battle for a half plus and 6,000-plus tickets sold for a single women's game. Yeah, you naysayers were right...nobody cares about games with USD. It's no rivalry. Not at all.

Way to be, Jacks. Men's team...take a note. THAT'S how you play in a game that people care about.

Well, it does help that the team that is playing against you in the "game people care about" is far inferior to the Jacks.

Edit: The "Far Inferior" statement is in reference to the correlation of SDSU-USD women as compared to SDSU-NDSU men.

The women slammed the door after a sub-par first half. The men...though they had MANY chances at home against a team they are (in theory) better than...not so much. You've gotta have heart.

I am pretty sure every person that puts that jersey on has heart.

The SDSU men and NDSU men are much closer in talent than the SDSU woman and USD women. It is an unfair comparison.
