The DofAB is very new at NDSU(2 or 3 years now), and Johnson is the first to hold the position. Prior to that, the athletic bands were under the control of the Director of Bands.       SDSU apparently still has the athletic bands directly under the director of bands.

      But there are only two athletic bands, AFAIK, the Pride & the pep band.

      Jim Coull's had the pep band forever and a day (speaking of Custer lookalikes, Coull is apparently an avid Civil War reenactor), and the band director is also the director of the Pride, so there wouldn't be much to organize under a separate Athletic Bands unit.

      And doesn't Sigurd usually wear a broad brimmed hat while conducting?

          Thanks I did not know that. The joint ownership probably explains all the civility of of the crew. None the less they still did a good job.
