I'm sorry but 31-2 with our OOC schedule earned the respect already. It just was given today. I'll say it again. This seed and bracket SUCKS.
I'd say earning respect would consist of going to Texas and beating two good Texas teams to earn a ticket to Raleigh, to (probably) play Louisville. By seeding, we're favored to beat TCU. We'll be underdogs to Baylor if we get that far. (And no, UTSA has no shot at beating Baylor.)
If we lose, we weren't good enough. That's the bottom line.
Test your knowledge...what do you know about Lubbock TX or TCU without looking it up?
1. Buddy Holly's home town. (I have a baseball cap from the Buddy Holly Museum.)
2. TCU: Horned Frogs. (They don't like being called Horned Toads.)
3. Former NDSU football coach, Jim Wacker, went to TCU from the Bison.
In my opinion, this will be the reason for AJ to someday leave SDSU. He absolutely has to schedule and win a murderous OOC slate just to get enough respect to get a single digit seed in the NCAA tourney.
Now, I don't think its going to happen in the next year or two, I'm just saying that this is more likely to be the reason he looks elsewhere rather than 1 year contracts or any of the other things discussed.

I can understand the disappointment of the draw, but there is so much to be grateful for and excited about. No team has ever gotten a 7 seed in their first try as a D-I program. Very few mid-majors get in the top half in the bracket, either. And if the Jacks keep doing what they do, they will get better seeds as the program continues to make the climb.
All I can do is pray that the Jacks play hard and stay healthy, they should be able to beat TCU and while Baylor is tough, they're not unbeatable. Sweet 16 is not out of the question.
And NDSU got a 14 seed in the men's. They got shafted too, but they can make a statement too.
Seven is a surprise, but not exacly on second examination.
Jacks are 22nd in Sagarin and 26th in RealTime RPI as of today.
Other sevens: Rutgers at 19th is seven places ahead of Jacks in RealTime RPI, and two slots (28) behind Jacks in Sagarin. Notre Dame is 16th in Sagarin, 14th in the RealTime. If anyone has a complaint based on RPI, it's the Irish. DePaul is 26th in Sagarin, 29th in RealTime.
LSU is the surprise in our bracket, at 6; 11 slots behind Jacks in Sagarin and six back in RealTime and they have a better seed. That's history speaking, folks.
First-round opponent, TCU, is 42nd in RealTime, 63rd in Sagarin. They beat Maryland by 12 on Nov. 14.
Of course the only numbers that mean anything now are what go up on the scoreboard starting Sunday. This is the Big Time now, play like there's no tomorrow, and may the best team win.

Wow, dude, up your antidepressant dosage!
We're Dancing. We get to do the Texas Two-Step! What's not to like?
I think I'd rather just drive. I'll check on some charter flights with friends and go from there. Might be heading out Saturday for the drive down. I'll just have to take Wednesday off when we win.

We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are.
You guys sound like a bunch of east coast people b*tching about where SD is and how do they get there. If memory serves me right you can get on Highway 83 and drive straight to it. Quit being jackasses and play the cards dealt to us.
Lubbock is not a bad drive from SD and a decent place to fly into.
Uh not a bad drive? I just drove to Houston over spring break and that's about 19 hours. Good luck, I suppose. I was exhausted after 10 hours.
I think everyone in here has the right to complain. 30-2. #14/16 in the country. And now we play 2 Texas teams in Texas? Complain away in my opinion.

To put things is perspective. The Horizon League Champion University of Wisconsin Green Bay was 28-3 (18-0 in the conference) is an #11 seed. University of Montana who we beat in Cancun won the Big Sky and was 28-4 and ended up a #13 seed. I'm not so upset with the seeding as the location. Let's face it Mid-Majors just don't get respect although I think we can make a case that we did get some respect in comparison to the Horizon and Big Sky Champions.

As opposed to playing San Diego State and then, potentially, Stanford, in San Diego? Or being Iowa and potentially facing Oklahoma in Oklahoma City in the second round? It is what it is, no seeding will ever be perfect, and you gotta win tough games no matter where you end up playing.
