She would be greatly accepted on the PRIDE.  [/quote]

Marvin the PRIDE is the marching band, a HUGE marching band, they are off to the Rose Bowl parade this year. I forgot to mention a VERY HARD WORKING marching band.

I majored in history (and journalism) and spent four years in the marching band. The history department is small, but I think that's a huge positive. It means a lot to develop good relationships with faculty members who can become your mentors. It's easily just as important as the coursework. Plus there are good history conferences in the area that she attend. That was one of the best things about it.

As for marching band, most of my really good college memories involve that band or the people I met in it. Heck, I even met my wife in the band. While I was there we marched at halftime of a Green Bay Packers game and took part in the parade and evening Fourth of July celebration in Washington, D.C. Ray Charles performed there, fireworks over the Washington Monument, just unforgettable stuff.

The "Pride of the Dakotas" marching band is nationally known. I'll bet if you ask the professors at IU's music department whether they've heard of the "Pride", they'll say yes. While many (most) universities emphasis concert bands and the marching band is secondary, SDSU's marching band is emphasized along with concert band.

The Pride is a big deal here.

Well with Middle Tennessee losing tonight and UW- Green Bay playing UConn tomorrow night. SDSU may have the longest current winning streak in D-1 women's basketball when we play Indiana Thursday night. I bet nobody thought we would be able to say that anytime this season.

The WNIT - We are in it to win it!!!

When living in LaVista (south side of Omaha), I'd go out to the car and listen to the Jacks games in the car off WNAX. Neighbors always wanted to know score of the game ;D I'd tell them, they'd get this puzzled look, and ask if that was the HOOSKERs game, and I'd say NO. Jackrabbits! ;D

Jacks to play Indiana on Thursday

It appears the South Dakota State women's basketball all-time attendance record established Saturday won't last a week.

Besides the allotment set aside for the visiting team, all tickets for South Dakota State's third-round WNIT game against Indiana, scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at Frost Arena, sold in less than four hours Monday.

The volume of interest was so high, according to SDSU athletic director Fred Oien, the company that handles on-line ticket sales for the school had to dedicate more bandwidth because the traffic was preventing some users from accessing the system.

Tickets also went on sale over the phone and at the SDSU box office at 1 p.m. Fans started lining up there around 10:30 a.m. - before the game's date, time or opponent had been announced. Within 20 minutes of their official release, all 2,100 reserved seats were gone. At roughly 4:55 p.m. and with people still standing in line to buy tickets, SDSU ticket manager Christi Williams announced the sell out. . . . (read more)
