Utah losing to Illinois in front of 9830 -  oops - drop the zero for a whopping 983 - the Illini announcers were commenting on what an excellent crowd they had

              IU fan here

I was requested on our Peegs board to pop in and talk about our team. Right now we are down to 7 players, and we are a pretty short team. Our center, Sarah McKay, is 6'5. After that, Whitney Thomas is about 6'1 and no one else is over 5'10. Whitney is really more comfortable outside, but is forced inside because of the height problems. Sarah is probably the most improved player in the Big Ten, men or women. Her game this year is tenfold what it was last year. She can score inside, and has a decent percentage out at the three.

The rest of out players are pretty decent shots. They tend to be a bit streaky, but when they are hitting they are hitting. Enterline and Roberson can also put the ball on the floor and drive. Roberson is probably our most athletic player. Her shot looks funny, but it works for her. Nikki Smith is good from the outside, as is Jamie Braun. Braun scored real well at the beginning of the season but really has slumped.

Most of these players were recruited by Kathi Bennett, daughter of former Wisconsin coach Dick Bennett. She played a real slowdown defensive slugfest style. She was replaced by Sharon Versyp who coached here one year and went to Purdue. Her style was a bit more open. Our new coach, Coach Jack, really wants to play an up and down game. These players aren't designed for it but yet they try. They really tried pressing and trapping Iona, and looked for a break whenever possible. It is somewhat surprising with just 7 players.

Good luck, I'll pop in later to see if anyone has questions. I've followed IU women's ball since about 1990, it would be great if it would catch on here but I'm growing skeptical. Coach Jack is a real high energy person, perhaps she will lead to it catching on.

Guys this is where you come in. I now had to admit I went to Augie :-?, but hope you don't hold that against me. Give Marvin your best sales pitch! I'd love for his daughter to attend SDSU and I'm pushing my son to go there as well!

Don't forget your coat. No actually Brookings is one of the greatest schools I ever looked at. When I graduated hs in 2002, I looked at a lot of schools - Harvard, Yale, the school to the South, Nebraska, Iowa - and I chose State. It was a decision I never regreted for a second. What makes SDSU great is the people. Brookings has the friendliest faculty and students I met anywhere and it was an easy decision for me.

Classical studies. She loves Roman history and Latin. We went on a vacation to South Dakota a few years ago (Rapid City and then Sioux Falls) and she loved it.

Thanks AmbassadorJack, good to hear. Sounds like a much more home feel than a larger campus like IU. She's also interested in band, actually color guard. For some reason, this daughter has less than zero interest in basketball. I don't know what I did wrong....
