As a fan (of sports) looking in, I understand the excitement and hype associated with the rankings, and the hope and desire to move up in the polls, that is just plain fun. But I would caution you not to put to many eggs in one basket about polls at this point in the season. In some respects, as fan base expectations climb, that puts a certain amount of self imposed pressure on your team. Don't get me wrong, and annialate me because I am a Coyote fan, but have realistic expectations as they wind down their season and head for post season play. I would hate to see them get all nerved up (enough of that will happen anyway without undue pressure from the outside) and not play like they have thus far.

It is exciting for your university, it's exciting for the game of womens basketball, it's exciting for the state of South Dakota. This really is good stuff. What to me would be more exciting would be for them to get a relatively low seed and have the opportunity to advance 1-3 rounds. That would be dynamite.

Best wishes to the Lady Jacks basketball team.

Yo! Yoteforever. Thanks for the cautionary note, concern, congratulations... Kinda reminiscent of all those times Eddie Haskell said, "My, you look nice today, Mrs. Cleaver."

Another loss after today, either #1 ranked Conn. or #2 ranked North Carolina will have a loss . Both 17-0, play each other today.

Iowa State, Okla.State, and Geo.Tech all have losses this week. Should open up some room in the AP.

about rutgers, they probably play a tough schedule, if you lose to top notch teams , they're more forgiving than if you lose to lesser known , high rpi teams, those losses are a killer.
TCU beat not one , but two no. 3 teams this season & were rewarded with getting ranked, notice they're not ranked now, because last time i looked at thier record , they had 6 losses, against non - ranked byu, smu,Fresno state, lost to (4) texas A&M by 14, lost to #24 Okla St., & BC. by 9
You have to be a pretty good team to beat california & maryland , but they're hot one night & the next lose to Fresno State, not consistent.I thought that the jacks could have beat Maryland , but just run into one of those poor halves they stuggled with early on.Maryland & California are nowhere near # 3 right now though.
Rutgers losses are to (7) california,(8) stanford 81-47 (34 PTS., THIS IS A BAD LOSS),(8) Tenn51-55,Syracuse 68-54 ( bad loss ,non-ranked team by 14 pts.)# 10 Louisville 59 -64. Except for losses to Stanford & Syracuse losses not too bad.

Voepel's already figured out we are a pretty good team, now we have to justify her faith in us by getting into the NCAA tournament & upsetting a few "big" name schools.
    Who's that fairytale lady? Cinderella(sp)?

Thought Ok St. might drop more. They have some tough games and if they lose a couple they should fall out. A few more weeks of no losses should get us back in.

It's all name recongnition and program history. We don't have that as of yet. If we keep things up over a sustained period of time, we can achieve that. Give it time and we will be there.

Voepel left us in her poll (at 20), and didn't even make a comment about the loss on her blog.

My guess is we should stay in the top 25 in the USA/ESPN tomorrow since the Oakland loss was before the poll last week and hopefully we will have another win tonite.
