I am hearing from great sources that Jill is now a Jack -- really graet sources. Check out Creighton's website and you will see she isn't a Blue Jay anymore.

If this is true...will she have to redshirt one year for transferring? If so she would be eligble for conference championships all four years?

School has not started yet, I don't think she would be considered a transfer. If it is true.

She'd have to be let out of her Letter of Intent by Creighton. I think that triggers the automatic year.

School at Creighton, I believe, started last week, if not the week before. If she got there, then decided it wasn't the place for her, she's probably a transfer. If she never enrolled, she's probably OK.

We are only at 13 schollies (max is 15 for WBB in D-I) for this season, but it appears that we only have one schollie available for next season with two seniors set to graduate and three verbals to date. If Jill has decided to attend SDSU, are we done recruiting for next year (with her receiving our last scholarship) or has she decided to be a walk-on?

Here is what I got (I am still waiting for confirmation.) Jill Young wet down to Creighton but didn't fit in, Jill is a Protestant and is highly religious and wasn't happy with some of her teammates and how the Catholic school treated some situations (all hearsay). She asked the coach to release her from her scholarship he did she then enrolled at SDSU. She has to sit out 1 year for transfer but doesn't loose a year of eligibility. I don't think she can accept a scholarship because she already accepted a scholarship for the semester. (next semester I believe she can accept one if indeed she was released from her scholarship) I am not sure if she can practice with the team or not this semester. (when I get the full true story I will post it on here)

She was granted a full release and is enrolled at SDSU as far as her even being on the basketball team or on scholarship nobody knows. Seems the reason she left was partially what I said before and the fact that the assistant coach that recruited her left for Northern Iowa.

Well it sounds like Jill Young will be joining the Jackrabbit Nation next year. Here is a quote

Could it be that no official word has been issued because she can't have officially enrolled at SDSU yet? I believe that won't happen until Tuesday or Wednesday.

Jill will have to sit out a year regardless. Mandy Morales left Arizona State before school started to attend Montana her freshman year. She was released from ASU and went to Montana and had to sit out a year. The only way you don't have to sit out a year is if you are released from your letter of intent DURING the high school year, is what I was led to believe.

Actually I e-mailed him to see if he could ask around. I figured that he knows enough coaches and players that someone could confirm the rumour. He e-mailed me this:

That is right. I saw the Bellevue West kids (Woodard). I have since talked to people in SD and they have confirmed and so I have posted the Young story. She will be at SDSU and sit out a year.

Woodard is on the Creighton team and he confirmed it with someone in SD, so sighting two sources is good enough for me.
