The Jacks hold off Creighton to secure the win. Had some trouble with the Bluejay's pressure defense and shooting free throws at the end, but Mathiowetz hit a couple of big 3's down the stretch to provide a cushion.

We have tremendous balance. Players were shut down at times but someone always stepped up. That keeps happening and we are going to be very hard to beat. Fox impressed me.

First time in the new arena. Very impressed! The views and amenities are great.

I've tried to sit in multiple areas the past couple seasons, and there doesn't seem to really be a bad view in the place.

However, I think Jack needs to work on his t-shirt sharpshooting, a few too many of the shots hit the rafters

Recapping my visit and a few game observations from WBB game yesterday.

First the venue and new look is fantastic and I was in love the moment I walked in.

In regards to the game, a lot of good things happened. Honestly was surprised looking at the final stats that we shot 50%. It did not feel like it.

Timmer was one again fantastic on both sides. If you were at the game, watching her hawk Jensen on defense all night was a treat and she was working very very hard. My favorite play of the night is when she put on the jets running up court and took a long pass from Fox for a nice lay up.

Mesa is a difference maker she needs to play 25+ minutes. Good things happen when she is out there.

Ellie Colbeck was also very good. She brought stability and composure out there. Not much showing in the scorebook, but played good defense as well on Jensen.

Frosh who played will be frosh. The two who played will continue to grow. AJ has confidence in them & they'll have games where their contributions stand out more than others.

Kallie is blue collar as they come and adds grit and toughness to the team when she is out there. Glad she is back on the court.

All in all, it is really fun to watch AJ try to get the proper 5 out there in the various situations. I loved the time it was Brooklyn, Paige, Timmer, Madi M and Colbeck out there. Fun lineup with all perimeter shooters and a single post.

Can't wait for next game, these ladies are a special treat to watch play.

Creighton will get back to the top 25 if they drop them too low, that remains to be seen, because they are a really good team. I always root for them, except against the Jacks, I sincerely hope they beat UConn this year, they've been oh so close, maybe this year they reach that goal. As for their coach, Jim Flanery , he's a great coach who I admire and respect a lot , a down to earth great guy who I've heard many, many times , in his post game pressers, and he's always complimentary and gracious to his opponents, win or lose, a true definition of a classy guy, He seems a little gruff and intense along the sideline, but that just shows how committed he is to wanting the best from and for his players. Off the court a true gentleman. Hope they do well the rest of their season and probably post season.

I was so pleasantly surprised to have Tyler Merriam calling the game on Midco. His smooth style and inherent knowledge of the university, the program and the players really shown through. I don't ever recall seeing him call a TV basketball game. He didn't call the men's game, I assume he either headed to Grand Forks or to bed to get a very early start north.

He was looking for Hendo and Hendo was no where to be found for the postgame. He said something about being on air at 11am as well.

After Tom Nieman disappeared last season, they simulcast some games that were just on the Summit League network with Tyler doing play by play. I'm guessing that if the game is on the main Midco network that they need separate announcers from radio.

Since Tom Nieman's name was brought up, anyone know what happened for him to disappear?

I'm not sure a public forum is the place to talk about it. I've heard a few things but who knows what's true. Midco clearly was downsizing that department. The Elaina Lanson lawsuit also didn't help the boys club there.
