HC Flanery brings his Bluejays into FB&T Arena for the initial WBB game. Flanery enters his 23rd season in Omaha with the Bluejays picked as preseason 2nd place team after UConn. They have Jensen & Maly preseason All Big East players. There are 11 names on the roster which includes 5 grad students, 2 seniors, 2 juniors, & 2 freshmen. Creighton is 11-5 against the Jackrabbits dating back to 1980. Also, remember there is a guy on the Creighton bench named Mike Jewett who is part of the inaugural game at FB&T Arena. AJ, who is in his 25th season, is sitting on 599 wins as head coach. This would be a great game to notch 600 as the Jackrabbits have 4 ranked teams on the schedule for 2024-25. This is the best time to establish home court in the remodeled arena. Go Jacks!!

I figured the reason Ronseik transferred was because they lost a lot of talent to graduation, but looking at the roster that doesn't seem to be the case?

Her sister is playing at Colorado St. I would guess they wanted to play together for her last year which is cool. Yes, their roster is like ours and the turnover is minimal and they only reload. Jensen has really killed us the last few years. We haven't beaten Creighton for a few years now. Time to get one back.Last edited by jackdaniel; 11-08-2024, 01:28 PM.

She was the best dribbler running full speed we've ever had at SDSU I think, just my personal bias I'd say, she had a gift for it . I've mentioned this play every time Creighton is mentioned and maybe some are tired of hearing it, but seeing something like that is pretty rare in WBB, I never seen it before or since. Maybe I'm just not watching enough basketball or just out of touch and it happens more than I believe, but I would like to see it duplicated/ replicated to convince myself of that. She was a great athlete for sure. (Macy Miller and her where very similar in handling/dribbling a basketball, playing together at Mitchell ?) I'll end my ramblings with saying, I hope we come out firing on all cylinders against the Jayhawks and pull off a win....GB,GB, GJ

I knew she went to play with her sister, but you must really want to play with your sister if you are willing to leave that roster behind.

Vasecka has the potential to do this. She had some drives Monday night where she blew by their athletic guards. In the open court, her speed is unmatched.

I sensed we weren't taking enough of an advantage when Creighton couldn't hit anything, mostly because of mistakes, so then Creighton hits some shots and we go scoreless and our meager lead vanishes in no time. We still don't seem to be able to get into a rhythm on offense it seems, and players are again reluctant / tentative to shoot because they don't feel comfortable shooting the shot. It will be great when they start clicking on offense like I know they can, not taking away on how Creighton is playing defense , because they are playing pretty good defense just like Rice did, and it took us awhile to get more comfortable on offense with them too. Still early , so we will get it going I'm pretty hopeful anyway, one things for sure, there's no quit in these young women , that's for sure would be nice to start hitting some 3's, that loosens up the shooters a lot, that's why Vlastuin is so nice to have on the court, her shooting mechanics are so solid it helps her shoot relaxed, that's why she shoots a high percentage, Fox, Mathiowetz, all of our shooters shoot really so much better when they gain confidence by seeing some drop, to the point of sometimes getting a streak going..
