yep checked their roster on sdhsaa page. she is listed 5'8.

just to be clear here, i hope it does not seem like i am trying to rip on her or imply that she is not good in ANY way!! everything i know she is a GREAT kid and a hard worker and a heckuva player!!!! i wish for her the very best!!! a healthy happy successful career!!!! and i WISH SO SO MUCH that the jacks could lock up EVERY player in SD who is even remotely close to D! level!! i hate to see any of them go ANY place else, especially usd(( but it is getting to we are quite blessed in SD with quite a bit of talent that is D1 level or close.

there are ONLY so many spots to go around. not just scholarships but time on the floor also. the jacks are no longer in a spot of trying to be able to compete in D1. they are on the verge of being a perennial sweet 16 team. meaning consistently top 20 team in the country with plans to be consistently top 10

when the move was made nay sayers cried that the jacks would never recruit in SD again. well not a single program has changed the recruiting footprint significantly. we still do the majority of our recruiting in SD and MN with some IA too. throw in a little NE and WI. the guys both MBB and FB have always recruited illinois, specifically chicago area. MBB and FB have moved much more into NE than before the move and FB has good connections in AZ. really very minimal change

but all the programs and WBB probably most of all are having to pass up players who once would have been rabbit legends bc they are looking for the next next level players. there is ZERO insult in not getting an offer from the jacks! they are looking for 12-15 of the absolutely best players in this region of the country. someone can be a DAMN good player and not land on that list

Either they might not think she is good enough to warrant an offer. Or she seems content to go out of state so not using resources on someone who isnt warm on staying around.....or finally, they are looking else for the best players they can find first and know they might be able to offer her and still land a good shooter. Or none of the above.

She has the versatility and quickness. I don't know the background on Reese Ross but for a sophmore she appears to have quite a bit of potential as well.
I think she will be better defensively than Lamb and definitely more polished than Lamb as a high school senior. Let's hope she keeps developing and improving as Lamb definitely has at USD.

Holy Wow! We really want Hilary Behrens if she is like this all the time. That is Myah 2.0. In just the short two quarters I have watched her she has drilled a 3, made a great drive and finish. But just like Myah she has threaded a pair of great passes in! And she is a sophomore, wow!

Another thing, with her frame, age, and build she just looks like a college athlete.

Caelyn Valandra-Prue is a very good basketball player, very smooth, how good is she in track I wonder?

Set the Class A 400m record (pg. 17) as an 8th-grader. You may notice Haleigh Timmer's listed there as well for setting the 800m record the following year.

CVP is well conditioned, explosive, and motivated in both sports - Class B MVP in track 2019 - ACL in 2020 - back now and dominant - enjoy White River's game tonight.

thanks, great athlete, little bit like Jim Thorpe, can do anything in sports. Can't wait to see Haleigh and Paige next season.

Watched some of the games, Timmer was like the only good think in the STM game. Swedlund struggled a bit in her game. Watched the WHS game and for 2 big time talents they struggled also.

We must have watched a different game because Mwentanda was a dominant stud in the game I watched. Unbelievable athleticism and body control. Wish we had a chance in hell of landing her.

AA girls basketball is kind of odd, in my opinion. There's a lot of really good athletes, but not necessarily good basketball players which leads to the low-scoring games you see. For example, O'Gorman has 5 D1 athletes in their 7 player rotation but only two (just speculating but I'm pretty confident Ronsiek and Abdouch will play BB) will play basketball in college (while 2 volleyball, 1 softball). SteelSD is right, Mwenentanda was absolutely dominant with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists. She's the kind of player that is able to just out-athlete any team she plays.

It's been a long, long time since I've since STM struggle as much as they did against Aberdeen Roncalli. Regardless, Timmer was her usual self with 27 of STMs 35 points.

yes, she was the only bright spot, OG was good with their freshman cant think of the name. But yes Mwentanda won it for WHS. Shecten has length obviously but gets pushed around too much. Mwendtanda looks to have a more polished skill set. Can drive, shoot and control the ball well. More impressed OG basically had a freshman really go punch for punch untill the end. I just would expect a team with that much top end talent to do better against a freshman from OG.

HOPE WE SCOUR the 4 state area thoroughly for top talent, this area is loaded, just look at Paige Bueckers and Caitlyn Clark this season, they are elite talents. We don't seem to need much beyond our area, it's just that they are getting to be in high demand and thus harder to keep local. AJ and the coaching staff does a fine job. I'd safely say, since we went D1, we've been to the NCAA Tournament more than has our P-5 brethren schools in the area. That's recruitment that keeps that going.
