Re: Who Will the next coach be?

Outside of the contract issue (1 year contracts) this is a very attractive job. I would say former Jackrabbitt and current MN State coach Lori Fish may get some interest.

How about Augustana College Head Coach Dave Krauth. He has been at Augie for 17 years with a 309-149 record and got his Masters at SDSU in 1983.

I'd guess we'd open up an national search. AJ put SDSU squarely on the radar screen in women's basketball--I think (hope) we'd attract some good candidates.

I think SDSU needs to do one of two things go after a successful head coach, maybe Northerns mens coach... prolly not though or Augies or somebody... Or go and get either a young assistant coach or a grad assistant like they got with Nagy...

The recruiting on Women's side continues to come in the region which is why IMHO they will find someone who has connections and relationships within the area. I would be surprised if they dropped down and picked up a hot shot high school coach.

The ONLY high school coach I would consider would be Doug Pesicka from Yankton, he was very well liked and he has the charisma to be a great recruiter....

I would hope the program goes for a strong candidate, not someone with minor experience at a lower division program or a high school program. These girls deserve a proven leader with DI experience (even if it is a proven assistant coach at a DI level). If a minor coach is selected, I would bet that some of the current girls would transfer.

If we want a successful head coach then someone like Terry Culhane from Marshall comes to mind. He's currenty the SMSU Volleyball coach, but he's had plenty of success at basketball also.

Granted he's had more success at volleyball, but I'm sure this would be a payrise.

I think it will be difficult to get an esstablished DI coach here with the current one year contract arrangement.
