    Re: Next Years Roster

Kratovil is done! She is marrying someone from the Bennett County area and will not be with the team next year. My source is 15-20 people from the Martin, Kadoka, Philip, Cactus Flat, Vetal, Batesland, Interior area. I wish she would stay around as it looked like she had some potential.

      Re: Next Years Roster

AJ announced that she is going to get married this summer and not return to SDSU at the Sioux Empire Staters luncheon April 17.

        Re: Next Years Roster

I think most people knew Kratovil wasn't coming back when she quit dressing for games at the end of the year. Almost everyone I spoke to in the stands was aware of her wedding plans and of the fact that she wouldn't be back for this season. I think blue mentioned it here, as did I, but we were asked not to speculate. So, in due time, old news is now "official" news under the auspices of our conservative moderators. I don't see any harm in that. Good luck to her.

Hey, I've had to embargo stories before, just to make sure I have all the facts. It just makes good sense.

Speaking of which, I have a big announcement, but I'm going to hold on that for just a while longer... just in case it falls through.

Like you said MD, we all knew she was done a while ago. I finally had a few sources so I put it up on the board. Also I don't believe the rumor rule is an unfair one.

Can you at least give us a hint? Is it a good or bad thing????

She did not quit dressing for the games. She was in uniform for the games, but had her playing time cut considerably. When AJ heard that she was planning on getting married, he confronted her and she was honest. That is when her minutes were cut. My source is her Uncle.

I thought I saw her in dress clothes at both the WNIT games, must have been someone else who looked like her. Gotta say I didn't even bother to look for her in uniform. I am pretty darn sure she didn't see any playing time during the 3 WNIT games. I know she didn't make the box scores, just checked. I heard several rumors about the time her playing time dropped off, some of them ridiculous. Exactly why I like a stricter rumor rule enforced.

                      Re: Next Years Roster

Well the time is almost here! Mid Night madness will be the "official" start of practice for the baskeball teams. Just a couple of quick observations from the bits and pieces of scrimmages/drills that I've seen.
-Macie Mickelson is going to be pretty darn good. She may be a bit smaller but she is very very smart and is a pretty good shooter.
-The Sophomores have been outplaying the upperclassmen. Maria Boever and Laura Nielson have been handling Jenn and Courtney so far. Ketty and Allison are playing pretty well.
-Muck looks like the most improved player this year. After the practices, quite often she is going through another workout on her own. (Not sure if everyone on the team does this and its just her specific time or what)
                      - Jill Young looks good but a bit tenative. Kristen Rotert hurt her ankle at the start of the year and has been a bit slow getting back. The Rosevelt girl (Schuteelof???) looks pretty good but she needs to get stronger.
I'm really really really looking forward to this year. I think The team has a ton of potential. It will be fun to see who steps up and is the all out leader that Megan Vogel was. Again these are just my observations at the hyper... Nothing more. GO JACKS!

The girls will be a much BETTER team this year. (I'm saying it now and said it earlier) They might not finish as well in the WNIT, but they will be much better. Everyone's older now and if anyone remembers, it took Megan a little while to get going last year. The only question, as stated above, is that when March comes will they have someone to step up at the end of games? But as a whole, they will be much improved.

I think the team will have more depth, but have a hard time believing the team will be much better absent Megan Vogel.

I don't see AJ moving to abrubtly to start the season out. I look for Ketty to start in Vogel's spot but to see Much move out of the starting lineup to start the season would something AJ just wouldn't do. Saying that with the talent on the team some positions will have some extreme competition day in and day out. Nice position to be in.

Don't get me wrong, as opposed to prior years, if any player isn't playing the level AJ thinks she can play, other team members will get there turn to shine. With the schedule this team has startig out that could mean some opportunities just might present themselves to players that might not have been there in previous years. It will be interesting to see who brings it to the floor on game night.

IMHO this team is Andrea's team if she wants it. Leadership is a mystical term that draws players to another - I think Andrea has it.

Just a style point: They're women, not girls. It's just more respectful to refer to female human beings over 18 as women. Girls is a diminutive term.

I'd say the same if somebody referred to them as Lady Jacks (like that dope Thorstensen from KSFY did about 1,000 times last year... when he wasn't calling our Head Coach Aaron Johnson. Um... hey TV dude, it's Johnston. With a "t"... no big deal... It's just his NAME.)
                              Holy nutmeg!

I do believe that from top to bottom this team is better then last years team the key players have more experience and the incoming freshman look good. The question I have is how well the team will be able to play with out Vogel, its not so much that she was good or great or outstanding it is the point that in the critical parts of the game she had the ball. Even when she was struggling teams had to keep an eye out for her. I still think this team is the team to beat in the Summit and the 09 tournament favors and my sweet 16 pick but I could be getting a little ahead of myself there.
