    Re: WOMENS ELITE 8

Nice year for the Jacks women. I think we have a better team than what showed up tonight. Unfortunately there is no tomorrow to prove that. Cal is probably the best team in the tourney and probably should have been in the championship last year. I think they will win it all this year as will Metro. For what its worth, the men and the women will each have lost to the eventual national champs if this happens. Congrats to A. J. and the Jackrabbits, good luck at the DI level. We are all very proud of you.

Just got back home from the game. Here's what I saw:

      1) Too many bad passes.
      2) Too many missed layups.
      3) Cal's #24 went NUTS from 3-point-land.
      4) We couldn't get Cal's #42 fouled out.

Not the way I wanted to go into D-I...but...

Here's hoping for .500 from each of our Rabbit basketball teams next year. Depending on the schedule, that may be a bit optimistic, but I hope it's an achievable goal. If we schedule aggressively, it'll help pay the bills, but will make .500 harder to achieve. It may not happen for a while. Keep the faith, Jacks, we're in it for the long haul.

Our beloved Rabbits are in the big time now. Instead of shooting for Metro State and Cal-PA, we need to set our sights on Duke and Tennessee. I can hear the guffaws of the D-II schools we're leaving behind right now. What? Little ol' SDSU thinking they can play with Coach K's boys or Coach Summit's women?

No. Not today. Not for a few years. Maybe not for a lot of years. There's no question we're going to take some lumps. Probably a lot of lumps, but you need to learn to walk before you run. Hopefully we'll be running again sooner rather than later.

We'll get there. Count on it. We're SDSU.

      Go State!

        Hey Doc,

You might want to prescribe yourself some Prozac after that womens b-ball game. SDSU your womens basketball program will do fine in D1. You have a good coach and basketball reigns supreme up there. The attendence seemed very low with a little over 2,000 there. I'm sure you guys probably had over 1,000 by yourself. Filbert, I am glad that you realize that you are in for some rough years. Hopefully your strong fan base won't give up. It might be a while before you see any conference championship let alone a national championship. Before you go hating Omaha too much,
just remember a little Omaha girl Cizek hit that huge three in last years semifinal that allowed you to hold up the trophy a few days later. I am both Mavericks#1 and Maverick to avoid all the seeming frustration over who I am.

        Maverick

P.S. Metro kicking butt should make you feel a litttle better. Do you believe me now that they got a good team?

I was at the game too, and agree with most of what Filbert has said. I do give Cal Pa credit for being a great shooting team. I dont know what their percent was in the second half, but it had to well over 50%. Also Cal seemed to really mess up our transition game, with their pressure and traps. No 20 for being 5'4 was a real thorn in our side. NO 42 was on a roll too, until she picked up her third foul.

Bottom line is I think both SDSU men and women peaked in January sometime and since then its been just a horrible struggle to get up for a game. I had wondered about CAL Pa 30-1 record, but now am convinced it speaks for its self. They are an excellent D2 program. If we had gotten past Cal Pa, we would have struggled against Merrimack and Drury in order to get another NC. I just think its too much with all things considered for this years team.

Both SDSU men and women can hold their head high and be proud of this season. Lets hope for the best next year and future years.

I agree that KJJQ's connection and their broadcast sucked. What a great time for THAT to happen! Scotty's a great broadcaster (doesn't give the scores enough) but their signal sucks. I called the station about the streaming feed and the kid said there was nothing wrong...yeah...right.

Cal will face Drury for the women's championship.

Drury 82 vs Henderson State 70

California (Pa.) 89 vs Merrimack 65

                Re: WOMENS ELITE 8

Cal and Drury were the two teams I thought would have been hard for SDSU to beat after seeing Wednesday's game.  Drury took care of USD in Florida early on so they had to have something then and have gotten better as the season went on. Drury walked over Washburn twice so that means something to as Washburn has been the top MIAA team in Women's BB.

I guess we can be happy with the season, but I dont think we had any imrprovement from one game to the next in the later part of the seaon.  It just seem to be up and down and not a slow progression upward.

                  Re: WOMENS ELITE 8

The national championship game ought to be a dandy. California of Pennsylvania seems to be on a mission, much like SDSU in 2003. Drury is a scrappy bunch and should have a pretty good fan following.

That said, the St. Joseph's Chamber of Commerce has to feel devastated by exit of Jackrabbit Nation.

I just returned from St. Joseph, It was great to meet some more of our posters Even though we lost to a very good- hot shooting Cal-PA. team. I couldnt be more proud of our Lady Jacks they are a great team that had a great season. and are classy on and off the court. Good bye to our seniors Stacie and Brenda We will miss you both. The team coming back will be awesome! The combination of Schlagel-Vogel-Sieler will be very formidable. Any D1 school who overlooks us next year WILL loose.
Love ya Jacks... D1 here we come!!

I've never figured out if I feel good or bad when the team that beats us wins a championship. Cal PA was a very good team. Drury put on a great show in the second half. There were an incredible number of Drury fans in the arena. Would have been something to have SDSU versus Drury in the finals ... it would have been a full house. Oh well ... now all we have to do is look forward to playing on ESPN and the like on various ocassions. It's hell growing up.
