Next year, you'll be getting a player from Marshall MN by the name of Macie Michaelson. She is a very hard nosed point guard who I think you guys will all like. She is on pace to break the Marshall High School scoring record currently held by U of M great Shannon Bolden. This season she's pretty much had to put the team on her shoulders.
They play down at SF Roosevelt 2/17 @ 730pm. Go check her out and see if you think she'll be a good one for the Jacks. I'd like to think she will be, but am concerned with the young guards that you have and those coming in will be creating a logjam.
Dwight,
By the way you make that sound, Macie has decided that SDSU is the place for her. Can you tell us more about what you know? You started the thread so I was just curious!
Sounds like someone that would be a great asset to the program!
Michelson hits 2,000 as Tiger girls hammer JCC, 75-43
By Tom Berg
MARSHALL — On a night when the three seniors on the Marshall girls basketball team were honored, it was perhaps fitting the Macie Michelson reached a milestone in her high school career.
The senior guard eclipsed 2,000 points for her career — becoming just the second Marshall girls player ever to do so — as the Tigers pummeled Jackson County Central, 75-43.
Michelson entered Thursday’s game needing 12 points to break the 2,000-point barrier.
With 9:03 left in the first half, Michelson scored on a layup to hit 2,000 for her career.
“It means...my teammates worked hard; I worked hard,” Michelson said. “So it’s an accomplishment for both me and my team.” (read more)

Becky Hammon is only 5'-6" and scored 2700 points at Colorado State. I don't think height will be an issue.[/quote]
And look where Becky Hammon is at today...The first South Dakotan in the WNBA and a star.
Some players can just flat out play no matter there height. I'm always amazed to watch Earl Boykins play. And even Iverson is only around 5'11" which is small compared to alot of NBA point guards. I read an article the other day that talked about how NBA started to become a slower game in the 90's when size was a big decision when drafting players, but how in the past two years the average player height in the NBA is getting shorter and how NBA teams are looking more for speed and quickness. I think Steve Nash and the Suns probably had something to do with it. But I digress, I don't think Macie will have any problems. She sounds like a scorer, and scorer's find a way to put the ball in the basketball no matter the circumstance. Same reason I think Jill Young and Loui Krogman will be fine playing DI BBall, they are natural scorer's, that's what they do.

Look what the point guard for UTPA did against us last night. She couldn't have been much taller than 5'5" and put up 20+. Yes it would be nice if Macie was 5'9", but it won't be that big an issue. How tall was Seiler?

Does anyone know if a SF radio station is covering this game?
Click on the "B" next to the Sioux Falls game and it will take you to the radio information. Click on the radio station logo and it will take you to the Marshall radio station carrying the game.
