The real test from South Dakota will come Saturday. Tuesday night was just a quiz for North Dakota State's women's basketball team.

The Bison predictably had their way with Dakota Wesleyan, taking a 104-42 victory before 762 fans at the Bison Sports Arena. At 17-0, NDSU will have its biggest challenge of the season: a Saturday night game at South Dakota State.

The Jacks were on the minds of NDSU players at some point during the Wesleyan game.

"To be honest, probably before the game started," said forward Danni Heintzelman. . . .

Go Jackrabbits, beat the Bison! ;D

SDSU women host undefeated NDSU Saturday
    published: 01/20/05

The South Dakota State University women's basketball team opens a weekend homestand Saturday by hosting undefeated and fellow first-year DivisionI program North Dakota State Saturday.

Tipoff in the annual Corduroy Classic recognizing South Dakota FFA is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Frost Arena. A Jackrabbit women's basketball alumni reunion is planned in conjunctionwith the game, which will feature a halftime ball-handling performance by former Jackrabbit player Tanya Crevier.

While NDSU's 17-0 mark is impressive, SDSU has played a far tougher schedule. Even after Tuesday's 86-52 loss to Wisconsin-Green Bay, SDSU has a 13-5 overall mark and a 7-5 record against Division I competition. NDSU is just 1-0 against Division I teams, beating Cincinnati 75-67 on Jan. 12.

NDSU's last two wins both came over NAIA teams. NDSU beat Dakota Wesleyan 104-42 in Fargo on Tuesday.

SDSU will have a quick turnaround this weekend, closing out the brief homestand with a Sundaymatinee against Briar Cliff (Iowa). Start time is set for 4 p.m. at Frost Arena.

The Chargers enter the week with a 9-12 overall record. . . .

    Go State! ;D

It would be a tribute to this team if they came out and heard 6,000+ chanting "We want the Rabbitts". They deserve a big crowd after the season they have had. I look forward to it and will bring a few with me. I think the Jacks really need to get out and market this team to all the area women's teams out there.

Well, we had plans to be in attendance, but have to go to a funeral instead. It is going to be very frustrating as the only internet connection is a dial-up on the only phone line, so I won't be able to tie that up to listen to the game. I sure hope they pack the place.

Tough travel conditions may effect attendence as well...

I'm going to be there and if there's extra space in the stands, I'll wear my coat, look bigger and make more noise.

I think the tickets sales are going well.

Prediction: a real battle in the first half but the Jacks women take control in the second half:
            Jacks 87, Bisonettes 65

My prediction for Saturday's game is
                  Bison- 72
                  SDSU- 69

This will be close game to the bitter end, I know SDSU has played a solid schedule and beat some solid D1 teams. But NDSU has also played a decent schedule and has had plenty of time to focus on this game. This is the game that Amy Ruley and the Bison have looked forward to for most of the year so this will not be the blowout that some of you Jacks fans are predicting. The SDSU winning streak against the Bison teams this year will come to an end on Saturday.

I heard that Brooke Dickmeyer might be injured and may not be able to play.

This game will not be a blowout. I think it will be a war. The loss against Green Bay may have come at the right time as I think the Jacks were starting to believe they are invincible.

                        My prediction

                        JACKS 81
                        Bison 79

Shannon hits a 3 as time expires to win the game and set the scoring record

No it won't. This is your a$$ talking, your head knows better FargoBison.

This is not based on either one of our schedule's as I think we have both played good teams. I just say this because we are better than you, and have been for some time now. We've owned you in all the top sports since the jump and women's basketball will be no different.

Owned? I'll give you mens basketball game since NDSU didn't show up to play. But in football winning on a last minute touchdown is not owning somone. And you may have been better then the lady Bison the last few years but the margin is about as big as UCON being better than Tennesse in womens basketball, both teams are solid and both have had success. If you think the Jacks are far superior to Amy Ruley and the Bison you are going to be let down on Saturday night. The Bison will come to play and neither team will win by more then 10.

You've HAD a lot of success and we are in the midst of having success in women's basketball. Maybe you will keep within 10 at Fargo, but I will be shocked if you do that in Brookings.
