  • Creighton ( tomorrows game )What would you like to see in 1st game of season?

I'd like to see the starting five ,not necessarily dominate, but get off to a good start to lay down a good foundation for the rest of the game.First games always the hardest to get into a flow of the game, so I'd like to see us handle that pretty good.Get the crowd going, and minimize the mistakes and come away from the game feeling confident that we're playing close to our potential early in the season.Everyone who plays in the game contribute in some way to a win,how ever minor it may seem to others ,a rebound ,assist, just playing good solid defense, whatever contributes to a victory.Hope the team plays a relatively clean game, limit TO's,even though it's the first contest.

Other than that,I'll just enjoy watching the game and cheering on the Jackrabbits, (miller time!....)

I hope the team is ready to go because Creighton might end up being one of the top-5 toughest teams we face all season. They got 10 votes in the coaches' poll and have an experienced team. I expect a tight game. This is a very good opener for a team trying to build a resume for March.

I'd like to see one or two of the bench players (other than Alexander) have a big game.

I have not heard the injury report. I am not concerned about Palmer or Alexander as reserves. I would not be surprised to see Flaata as a solid minute here and there or Tracy doing a few good things. I am more anxious to see Graettinger healthy to see how she might bring something after the year of redshirt. We know the starters have the talent to carry their load even though one or two of those will struggle on any given night. How does the other defense cover Guebert's pull up 3 and Miller's dribble drive or Young's move to the paint without a double team. By the way, the 4 and 5 can score 30+ points as well. The reserves need to keep the defense honest(and play defense) and take the things that are available without expecting performance of the starter. The Bluejays are a great opening game to test the starters as the leaders of the team. They have a year together under their belt and we should expect the team is starting out experienced and tested. They had 3 OOC losses last season and it would be encouraging to reduce that number this year. Go Jacks!!

I think we all know that the starting 5 will be great. Depth is the word I hear from friends associated with the team. Will this bench be able to keep the drop off to a minimum with AJ's line changes? How deep will AJ go into is bench giving quality minutes? How will this team handle the unbelievable expectations?

The first real games are usually hard to judge the players, but does give a good idea what the coaches think.

The team is in a stronger position already since last year Chloe(16.6) and Gabby(22.4) and Lexi((17.9 in 33 games) and Sydney(7.9 in 23 games) getting fewer minutes on average. Flaata had 6.7 in 20 games. Flaata is a player I have more confidence than some on this board for the upcoming season. The reserve players will be as important since they need to hold the line while in the game. I still am more comfortable with the bench than some might be since there are quality minutes on the team and there are also some untested players ready to contribute which are the freshmen and redshirt freshman. I would call 3 or fewer losses a solid OOC. I would call 2 or fewer losses a successful OOC.

The "line change" substitution pattern that has sometimes been used in the past may not work with this group. AJ may need to stagger subs and keep 3 or 4 starters on the floor most of the time. The versatility of Young and Miller to play multiple positions should help with that.

We did see Miller play the 3 while Guebert or Alexander played the PG in the exhibition. There was an article in the Mitchell paper about Miller playing 2-4 this year to highlight her abilities. Of course Young has been 2-4 to accommodate the lineup in the past. This should be another successful team.

1-0 would have a great ring to it!

Creighton has always been a tough challenge for the Rabbits. There is a lot of respect between Creighton and SDSU coaches. Creighton, like Jacks, is bringing in their last year starting 5 and a couple of subs. At least one of those star 'Jays wasn't available last season when Jacks beat them in Omaha. I'd like a close, tight game, so that we can see how Jacks play in pressure situations. I also hope to see Jacks go 1-0 tonight. Looking forward to yelling at my tv screen tonight as Jacks outlast Jays.

Jacks pick up right where they left off last year, opening up an 8-0 lead right out of the gate. Creighton finally settles in and chips away at the lead.

Ober's defense is dominant. She already has two blocks and forced a travel.

If Thompson ever gets to the point where she can settle down and make layups in the first period she is really going to be good. She has missed a couple easy ones tonight.
                        10-9 Jacks

Like seeing this team drive the ball. I thought last year their flaw was settling for jumpshots

Janning's been a real pain though.
