    Re: bracketology,best guesses

Charlie's latest update (today) ,has us still in SF regional, moved us up to a 12 seed playing # 5 seed Mich St. at College Station,Tx.For once I hope he's right and shows a keen instinct on how the Tournament selection committee views things and mirrors their thoughts exactly.

Realtime RPI has us as a #12 seed also, but they switch Texas A&M and Mich St seeds,Mich St as a 4 seed and Texas A&M as a 5 seed. The first four seeds host ,so don't know why this is,if the host sites have already been determined, maybe they haven't.The polls do show Mich St as the higher ranked team. They have us in the Lexington Regional.

Got to hope most of the tournament winners for the conferences are the favorites to win, enough upsets would really mess things up for seeding if these favorites were to then draw an at-large,because a lot of them will be included into the tournament whether or not they win their conferences automatic bid. It would just add more teams with higher rankings/rpi,which would change the seed line as they displace teams and the displaced teams start trickling down.Teams might drop a seed or so as a result.I think the bracketologist should be on top of this,if they are fairly good at their craft.

Didn't IPFW beat Michigan State a couple years back? I'd take that match-up.

Yes,and Mich St was ranked in the top 25,Summit teams can pull an upset when they play well,IPFW proved that.W.ILL should have beat Iowa this year, but let them tie it up and it went to OT and Iowa dominated the OT period for the win.

A little info on wins by seed in the women's tournament. 13 seeds have only won six games since 1994. 12 seeds have won 18. Those numbers are quite a contrast to the men's game, 17 and 31 wins respectively.

Bottom line: we need to get that 12 seed.

Agree, that seems to be the cut-off seed for having success or not. Get a 12 or lower/higher (which term applies??) and your chances increase dramatically for at least 1 win in the tournament. If you get a 12 seed, you have to make the most of it,it's hard to get one unless your names in one of these lists somewhere.....thanks for digging this up,very interesting.

FGCU lost their conference auto bid to Jacksonville. They were penciled in as a 11 seed. This revelation should shake things up a bit.

If Crème is right, there could be a potential rematch with Notre Dame in the Sweet Sixteen in Sioux Falls.

Was Maryland earlier in the season a good match-up for the Jacks? The BIG 10 is weak this year. I wouldn't mind seeing any team from the BIG 10.

sr hines and fr allen are a tough duo. powers (as much as i am not a fan of hers) is one of the best in the country. very high draft pick. i think what hurt msu the most is their court demeanor. hines and powers can be a couple of the biggest whiners/complainers in the game.

DePaul gets a 6 seed. After one region I have to say that I'll be REALLY disappointed with anything over a 12.

Neutral site, 12 seed. Time to get something done!

In other news. UCONN to Sioux Falls? 50% chance now. That would be pretty cool.
