  • GDT: Arkansas

The Jacks will be looking for its 2nd straight win over the Razorbacks. I'm sure Jimmy Dykes is looking for revenge after SDSU came out with a miracle win last season (down by 9 with 27 seconds left). Arkansas is lead by Jessica Jackson and Kelsey Brooks.

    What Coach Dykes Says

South Dakota State is a veteran team with a veteran coach who has won a lot of ball games. They run a terrific offense and this would be a very, very tough test at any point in the season but especially when you have seven new players playing in their first road game as a Razorback is really a tough challenge. We need that challenge right now. There will be 4,000-5,000 people there and that will be great for us.

Fun Fact: SDSU is 7-2 all-time against SEC teams.

    Re: GDT: Arkansas
The next big game is on for tonight. We can welcome the Arkansas women with a damp 40 degree day and 30 mph NW wind. The Razorbacks will bring 7 players from 6' to 6'3" with 3 of the players at 6'3". Jackson a 6'3" Jr PF has averaged 16.5 points and 11.5 boards. Brooks at a guard position is the other big scoring threat and plays the most minutes with Jackson. There are 9 other players in the rotation with these 2 who are the leaders. The team has shot the ball 76 and 88 times in their first 2 games averaging 38%. Theyaverage 57 rebounds with 26 offensive rebounds per game. They averaged 12 turnovers in the first 2 games. We should expect an uptempo chuck the ball and get the rebound kind of game from the Razorbacks. The Jackrabbits will need the bench tonight to stay with this bunch. Go Jacks!!
Best to remember these are kids and they are doing everything they can to entertain us, be scholars, and all in all be great humans. Jackedforlife

Defense, maybe with Arkansas it won't be as critical as it will be against the Irish. With the Irish, they are so efficient at scoring anyway ,you have to get every rebound that comes your way ,and you can't let them get second chances, especially offensive boards or they'll score a hundred on you.We would be hard pressed to keep up with that kind of scoring, against their strong defense they put up themselves.Arkansas,I don't yet have a feel for how we'll handle them,I'll take a wait and see attitude,I'd really like to see what our upside can be.Hope they can show us this game.

This is probably the OOC game I'm most interested in. Getting the Irish to Frost is a HUGE deal, but winning is a real stretch. This one is different. This Arkansas game offers a big challenge but we definitely have a good shot at a difference making win. Also, it would make Saturday even bigger if we are 2-0 with an SEC pelt on the wall.

SDSU needs this win to help build a strong resume and get the committees attention. I have a good feeling about this game.

If he thinks this is going to be the case, I'm afraid he is going to be very disappointed... I do love listening to their coach as he is very well spoken and complimentary of our basketball program. Seems like a very classy guy.

You might be in rare company there. Not sure how many people can say that to both these schools.

On pace to score 96 and up by 10 after one quarter.

I will definitely take that! Great start.

Their true Freshman point guard is one of the most explosive athletes I've ever seen. Unbelievable jump stops...

Great 1st quarter then came back to earth in the 2nd. The Jacks had a chance to break the game open but let Arkansas back in. The 2nd half will be very entertaining!

We've been answering their runs so far. I expect that they'll make a couple more. Arkansas is clearly a solid team.

                            56-43. 3:30 in 3rd.

Alexander has improved so much this off-season!

63-47 SDSU leads at the end of the 3rd.
